  1. Trade him to MIL for Peralta and Hoskins. If Hoskins plays well down the stretch, re-sign him next year.
  2. Romy has been pretty great this season. I'm not buying into any idea that it's a breakout, but more of a high watermark.
  3. That would give him 6 more productive seasons I guess. I think the Giants would take that and eat the last two seasons.
  4. I think you can get Hoskins for much less or just wait until the offseason. Is it really worth it for two months? I don't think so.
  5. 1B - Rhys Hoskins SP - Freddy Peralta, Andrew Heaney, Tomoyuki Sugano, Seth Lugo
  6. If they went out and signed Burnes to a massive deal, he'd be out for the year too. Manaea hasn't even pitched yet this seasons (3/75).
  7. You don't know how often that dog bites!
  8. I think they did a good job with the Verdugo, Yorke and Priester trades. The Sale trade just left a sour taste in everyone's mouth. I'll reevaluate the Devers trade later on in the season.
  9. FA: SP- Cease, King, Framber RP - Rogers, Williams Others - Tucker, Schwarber, Ozuna, Hoskins, Alonso I think I'm talking myself into one of the five bats I listed. 😐
  10. Without Theo, I'm not sure where JH or the Sox are. First two Sox WS are mostly on Theo. 2013 was largely a Theo team with a good offseason shopping spree by Ben. 2018 included a core of Theo guys Mookie, JBJ, Xander, Vazquez. It was another GM that "fed the monster" and got that 2018 team over the top. Ben, Bloom and Breslow aren't guys that will consistently be able to do it here IMO. Ben 315-333 Bloom 272-274 Breslow 121-121 And JH prefers the Ben/Bloom/Breslow path...
  11. It's why you can't rely on FA to build your team. Too much risk involved.
  12. To me, the problem isn't that it's a lineup of kids. If they just went that route and put the kids in the spots they were supposed to be and ran with it, the team would be more enjoyable. However, over and over again, they just half ass it. Mayer will most likely go to 2b instead of SS. Anthony won't be designated a fulltime OF spot. Rafaela should just be the CFer 150 games a year. Force Abreu to face LHP and see if he gets better rather than in a parttime role. Give Fitts and Harrison starting rotation spots for the rest of the season. I don't know how they serve both masters of "remain in contention" and "play the kids." I think they should actively be trying to deal: Chapman, Story, Buehler, Masa, Bernardino, Wilson, Romy, Toro, Hamilton, Duran, Wong, Refsnyder. These guys aren't going to be part of the next great Red Sox team. I think they hold onto Bregman as the "glue guy" and an additional bench coach for Cora. Maybe they work on a short term extension for him at big $$$.
  13. They are currently OVER the lux tax. A trade of Buehler and Chapman at the deadline should get them under it.
  14. Buehler had a nice stretch from mid April to mid May, but that pitcher went AWOL. Not sure he has any trade value unless the Sox eat all the salary and the return would still be minimal.
  15. Also Happy Birthday to Robbie Ross, Bobby Reeves, Charlie Mitchell, Mel Hoderlein and Paul Musser.
  16. How can JH be the owner of a team that is going to be SUSTAINABLE year in and year out when he acts in this manner? That's what I don't understand.
  17. He's not even DFA'able. You hold onto him in case you need someone to throw innings down the stretch considering all the injuries that happen to starters. 🫣
  18. The FA market was supposed to be a great one last year. It was not.
  19. Will Anderson be tipping his pitches again? Anderson 5/22-6/19: 7.04 ERA, 5.65 FIP, 1.93 WHIP, 1.76 HR/9
  20. When Jared says stuff like "I never got too high on this team or believed in the hype of vibes until this year" he's lying. He's not a guy that looks in the mirror very well. He definitely talks to a lot of people in the organization, but I don't believe he's speaking with Cora anymore. I know he's friendly with some current Red Sox players (Gio, Breggie), but I'm not sure that means he has inside knowledge of what the Sox will or won't do a month from now. A lot of times, he says there's a scoop and never reveals it down the road, so we rarely get the scoops that don't ever come about. I'm not sure how often he speaks with Sam Kennedy, who he's had on the pod previously and who people believe he's friendly with.
  21. I agree with retooling. This team, even if could sneak into the third playoff spot, isn't going to go on some postseason run. It's not good enough. The starting pitching isn't there. The bullpen is going to be haggard by the time September rolls around. The offense has more holes than one of my dad's 40 year old suits. The defense would let the team down at too many crucial moments that there's little chance they could win many close games down the stretch. The problem with this team is roster construction. They need 3 starting pitchers, 4 relievers and to turn over a substantial portion of the offense. The bones of this team just aren't good enough.
  22. AND Mayer would move to 1B in order for Campbell to play SS. That was the original argument.
