  1. He wasn't ever even an assistant GM before. There were communication questions in the interview process. Maybe he can figure it out and learn from the situation? None of us are there and it's hard to get what's really going on with all the PR spin from all sides. I think we know there's a blame pie and that the people that remain in the organization need to do better going forward. Seems simple enough of a statement.
  2. The Sox haven't really been able to sweep the bad teams. BAL won a series, split a series CHW lost a series, won a series
  3. I think that's when a more substantial trade could be made. Right now, it'd be for expiring contracts or dealing for prospects.
  4. They tried trading Casas and Masa last offseason and couldn't pull the trigger. Now that they've been injured, how are they going to get those deals done? Seems like they'll be stuck with both for a while unless they are eating a substantial portion of Masa's deal and take pennies on the dollar for Casas.
  5. It'll be nice to have the SF series behind us. That's all I'm going to say! Almost better that we're hit with it now and can move on.
  6. I was all on board with a Masa revenge tour this offseason. Who am I to say?!?!
  7. It's a great little run. Surprising! If the pitching holds up, they'll be in a great position for the rest of the season even without a decent DH.
  8. Yes. There aren't too many people on here that are willing to change their opinions on players or people. However, I am a proud flip flopper.
  9. Where'd you see this? I always saw that it was the opposite.
  10. If he mashes in AAA, does it mean he's ready again? IDK. We'll have to find out again. I'm not sure it's confidence so much as he can't pull the ball anymore. Seems like it's more of a hitting coach thing.
  11. I can criticize the Yankees lineup while it having nothing to do with the Sox.
  12. I've said they've been bad! I've said they might be in rougher waters going forward! 🫠
  13. Now it's back to talking about him on the Prospects Forum I guess!
  14. Hamilton doesn't need an option to AAA, he needs a DFA. Should have traded him last offseason when they had offers. 😑
  15. You still need to throw fastballs here and there to keep them honest (see: Bello 2024). If you develop pitchers that are unable to throw fastballs, they will struggle in MLB IMO. The Sox best development arm right now is Dobbins. He throws is 4 seamer (not a cutter, not a splitter) 40% of the time! Tolle is the Sox most exciting starting prospect in the lower levels, because of his fastball shape!
  16. What the frig have I said about the Red Sox offense since Devers left?
  17. They got a new CBO that wouldn't have signed that contract.
  18. It was one year (2012) to get under the luxury tax. He didn't have to deal with that every year.
  19. JH will always say "it's the CBO's decision" and then just fire the CBO when things don't work every 4 years. The next CBO can just say "I don't like that contract because I didn't negotiate it."
  20. Ben had the salary dump for a lot of reasons that we've gone over. It wasn't simply to cut salary, but because that team actually had internal issues. The 2011 team fell off at year end. There was the chicken and beer media driven nonsense. They tarred and feathered Tito on the way out of town. They brought in Valentine as muscle and kept most of the same players. The players basically crapped all over that idea and didn't perform very well (notably AGon). Sox wanted to get out from under Crawford's salary (JH inexplicably showed up on the radio and declared that he never wanted to sign that contract in the first place). They decided to attach Beckett to the deal with AGon (squeaky wheel) and CC (bad contract) only because it's the only way to get rid of CC and actually get value back (what little actually came back). Filling up a roster with mid level talent and making a playoff push actually counts as spending! It worked too!
  21. Losing 12% of their runs takes them from being near Yankee level to near Rays level. Above average, but no longer elite.
  22. This must be that ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE that Raffy was disrupting.
