    Why did he avoid asking Devers about DH while both of them were in Fort Myers prior to ST starting? Bregman had already been signed at that point. Both of them were together at JetBlue.

    If they make these deals on July 31st, it'll be too late to make up lost ground and instead of being 81-81, they'll wind up 85-77. If they made the deals now, there's a better chance they can get to 87 wins. I just don't think Breslow is serious about their chances this season.

    Boras is paid to do what his clients ask him to do. For example, Varitek took less money to stay with the Red Sox and was a Boras client. If Bregman wants to stay here, Boras can work it out.

    I agree with the premise of keeping Bregman around for the remainder of his career depending on the amount of his contract. I think he's hitting above his weight right now (our expectations should be closer to an 800 OPS at best), but seems to be a great fit for a young clubhouse. My only concern is that this quad injury is a similar injury to the one he had in '21 and he's at the age where this may just start happening more and more.

    Espinal - not a top 20 prospect Buttrey 19th Jerez - not a top 20 prospect Beeks - 6th That's a good haul for only trading 2 top 20 prospects IMO. I'm not sure you can do that nowadays. Equivalent would be like Connelly Early for Eovaldi. Uberstine and Jose Bello for Kinsler. Castro for Pearce. The system was weaker then, so the rankings aren't one for one.

    What is Cora expected to do with a 25 year old CFer that can play defense? You can keep coaching these guys, but it comes down to what happens the second they get into the org. If they don't have the basics of flyball tracking by the time they are in MLB, what are we even doing here? I can't be mad at Cora if these guys don't know the basics. They should have learned that by now!

    Not sure how you are getting that from they "are neck and neck right now." At some point Rafaela will be better offensively because Duran will tail off, but I don't know when that will be. It might not be for another few years though. Rafaela may catch up and they may profile similarly. Duran may bounce back. It's hard to say as we don't see what they are doing behind the scenes. I know Duran is continuing to tinker with his stance (location in the box, distance between feet) and it's not working.

    This team lost 3 games to the White Sox and went 1-5 vs the Angels. There is no series that is possibly too soft for them.

    I'm not quite sure what Rafaela's first 23 games are supposed to tell us. It's not like you're adding in Duran's 33 games from '21 when he had a 48 wRC+ or his 77 wRC+ from '22. Rafaela is 24 and having his first solid season. Duran is 28 and is no longer carrying an unsustainable 381 BABIP like in '23 or able to hit anything up in the zone. He can only hit pitches that are down. Last year he was able to hit the pitches up under his hands.
