    I'm not quite sure what Rafaela's first 23 games are supposed to tell us. It's not like you're adding in Duran's 33 games from '21 when he had a 48 wRC+ or his 77 wRC+ from '22. Rafaela is 24 and having his first solid season. Duran is 28 and is no longer carrying an unsustainable 381 BABIP like in '23 or able to hit anything up in the zone. He can only hit pitches that are down. Last year he was able to hit the pitches up under his hands.

    If you do moon's math of 1b's + bb's + hbp, there were 143 for 8 and 9 this year. If you divide season totals in half for last year, you get 131. 9% increase of hitters on 1b (some who could go 1b to 3b), but could suppress his steals by about 10% I guess. However, I think part of his decrease is due to his stolen base % going down to 75%, his lowest since '21 when he only played 33 games.

    Duran and Rafaela are neck and neck right now with Rafaela playing GG defense and Duran playing LL defense.

    Compare with '23 when he had a similar amount of PA's and was sitting on 1b about the same amount of times.

    Mayer could quit baseball without telling anyone to join the circus and they still wouldn't put Campbell at SS.

    He will look like the biggest dum dum if this falls apart in the next 30 days. He's declared they'll win more games without Devers and that they'll be buyers. I get that he wanted to ring the positivity horn and try to move the dialogue, but sometimes you can get your point across without having to explicitly use those terms.

    The only skill he shows is running fast. As we've seen lately, he's not even doing it smartly. He's running into less doubles this season. He's on pace for less stolen bases. If that's his calling card, he's not using it well this season.

    Houck fell off so far he's no longer in the rotation (was considered at least the #2), possibly due to injury Bello, Gio, Fitts all missed time Buehler should be sent to the pen and makes us miss Newcomb Crawford will miss the whole season Bregman injury will have him miss almost two months Story's defense slid back, offense has been awful Casas injury after suckitude Duran regression to '23 or worse numbers (expected mild regression, not this much) Masa will not appear in a game prior to July They dealt Raffy with no MLB additions yet That's a lot of things to go wrong from some big contributors.

    Agree about Masa. Disagree that they'll nontender Casas. They'll rehab him and then not figure out how to work him into a steady rotation of PA's at 1B.

    When I lived out there, the Angels had well known issues with rats at their stadium. Is this still the case?

    With all the injuries this team sees, I wouldn't be so set on "abundance" especially after how light the system looks offensively. Aside from Jhostynxon and Arias, there aren't any guys that are really super exciting right now.

    There are many problems. He's part of the problem right now. Bailey seems to be part of the problem and so does Breslow. There is enough blame to spread across half the roster (at least) too.

    If they want Cora out of the managerial position, they are going to bump him up to some EVP position upstairs and pay him out that way.

    The callup to GRE didn't slow Aita down. I kinda lost track of him after the first few weeks of the season. 1.8 bb/9 8.0 k/9 .591 OPS A little BABIP luck for him lately, but I like that he's throwing strikes.

    He wasn't asked to play 3b after Breggie went down. Why would they want Devers there when they don't like his defense and thought Mayers (great glove) would be ready? If he's not able to communicate with his players, it's not a clubhouse issue, it's a Cora issue. It's the same as the issue Breslow had with a lack of communication over the offseason and Cora's lack of communication prior to ST when both he and Devers were in Fort Myers. Cora never spoke with Houck all season, even when he was struggling. Houck said he was dealing with some arm issues. Cora never knew about it because they weren't speaking to each other. Seems like there's a common thread here...

    If he wants a guy that can OPS 975+ vs LHP, we got a few of those. Probably don't cost much.

    There were no issues in the clubhouse. The issues were between Devers and Breslow. That's not a clubhouse problem. The perceived Devers vs Campbell problem was made up. Nobody in the clubhouse knew about it.

    The only pitch he has pulled to the OF in AAA was a smoking EV of 83 mph and went 270'. He's turned into Chase Meidroth, if Chase was a horrible fielder.

    DD doesn't care about prospects that much. He cares about winning now.

    Highest swinging strike rate of his career at 24.5% (18.7 is league av). Also highest 1st strike %, strike %, pitches swung at %. Lowest 3-0 count %, 3-1 count %, productive outs %. He's been pretty terrible even when you include his "good" June.

    Call him up, but what does that add? He's another young, unproven starter.

    If Juan Soto was signed to a 10 year, 500M contract at the time. I think that'd be a fairer comp.
