Early's main issue is holding velo. Some starts, he'll be at 97. Other starts, he won't break 94.

Harrison will eventually get called up. Sox may need someone to cover for Chapman, which pushes a current AAA starter to the AAA pen. Also, Early and Sandlin were probably on track innings wise to be in AAA.

If the Sox continue to play dumb baseball and reach the postseason. They will not win. They will lose. They will lose due to Rafaela being a bad 2b. They will lose due to catcher's interference. They will lose due to Jarren Duran running into Masa.

When he has a mediocre team, he gets mediocre results. I think he needs more veteran players to the results we expect around here (we were happy with him in '18 and '21).

Salas hasn't had an OPS above 600 after being promoted from low A. Dylan Cease is high variance pitcher due to his control issues. Both players have a decently high trade value. That the Sox wouldn't move Duran for them (reports disagree about this assertion one way or the other), shows how highly the Sox value Duran at the very least. This shows to me that they aren't just going to dump him off for some of the trades I've seen proposed on here. It would have to be for a decent return for players with good value and control.

I think some of those guys are on the table, but I don't think he's going to deal more than 6 of those names. If he's dealing Arias or Garcia, it needs to be for something better than the arms we've traded for in the past.

He's been hitting lately. He really tore it up against St Paul, but that team has the 2nd worst ERA in the International League. His HR that got posted all over social media was off a guy with a 7+ ERA and a 90.1 mph 4 seamer. Sox are trying to get him lots of reps at 1b (15 games, 0 errors).

I think the Sox would not beat the Jays, Tigers, Astros or Mariners in a playoff series. Rangers are on a 10-2 run. There's a good chance they push the Sox out of the playoff position for good by the time the deadline comes anyway. Sox best chance is for the Yankees to free fall. The reason winning pretty matters is because ugly baseball doesn't win in the playoffs. The bad baseball that gets the Sox by during the regular season won't work in October for long.

I just think we make moves similar to what we saw from Breslow in '24, selling Rule 5 eligible guys. If expectations are Joe Ryan or bust, people will be let down IMO.

Still selling today? I think they are still stuck in no man's land. They are good enough for that final playoff spot, but not really good enough to do any damage in the playoffs. BUT ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN THE PLAYOFFS!!! No. The sixth seed has to run through 4 teams now. This team looked rough against the Cubs/Phillies/Dodgers. It wasn't even pretty during the Dodgers series win. The expectations for a contender have fallen so far that people want to heavily buy for a deeply flawed team.

Cease can be very frustrating to watch. I think it would cause at least one of our older posters to die during a gamethread. I agree about Ryan too.

If that's the cost, Breslow isn't making that trade. If he already passed on Cease and Salas, he's passing on Clase.

Kiké most likely out. Mookie probably out. Aramark concession workers now most likely out for the full series. Will fans be sneaking in food and beverages in the way I did back in the 90's and early 00's? We'll see!
