  1. Dodgers are 4-11 in their last 15. Sheehan generates a lot of chase, so his numbers may be a little deceiving. Sox may do worse than the 4+ ERA suggests. Bello has been great at home (648 OPS). Overall since June 1: 2.81 ERA, 3.87 FIP, 7.2 IP per start. Kiké is out with an elbow injury and is most likely missing the series. Mookie may miss tonight's game due to personal reasons.
  2. If we traded Duran for Cease and Abreu in a larger deal for Ryan, we'd have no offense, but the pitching would be: Crochet day Cease day Ryan day Bello day Giolito day It looks great on MLB the Show!
  3. Sean McAdam of MassLive provides further details on the situation surrounding Duran. He suggests that while a deal involving Duran is “likely” at some point, the Red Sox are inclined to hold off on making such a deal until the offseason. McAdam then goes on to note that the Padres offered Boston a three-player package of right-hander Dylan Cease, top catching prospect Ethan Salas, and an additional prospect not named Leo De Vries that was “quickly rejected.” That’s a fairly significant offer, particularly given the fact that the Red Sox had reportedly expressed interest in Cease previously in conversations with San Diego this summer.
  4. The illest.
  5. Top of the first, nobody on, no outs and Duran on? Bunting!
  6. In order: Eury Perez Edward Cabrera Ronny Henriquez Lake Bachar Sandy Alcantara Cade Gibson Anthony Bender Cal Quantrill
  7. That was FCL's last game of the season. Expect a bunch of promotions, IL adjustments and releases. The domestic reserve lists is at 153/165 and they signed 21 draft picks and UDFA's.
  8. I wouldn't trade Duran for Clase straight up, let alone add prospects to the deal.
  9. Duran AND prospects for a closer? I don't see how that would work for any of Breslow's models. I think Clase should turn things around, but that price is way too steep.
  10. I think it comes down to a few things: 1. The way the players train and how their bodies are built. I think their overall build these days is more prone to injuries. 2. The constant max effort (especially in terms of pitchers and spin/velo) directly influences injuries. 3. There is a lot more $$$ in the game today. To protect your investment, it's better to hit the IL than do whatever it takes for a playoff run.
  11. Oh, CAREER performance. Well, then you should worry about his 4.32 ERA in MN, not his current 6+ ERA I guess! Obviously he's going to trend that line down by the end of the year, so we should be looking for some sweet positive regression!
  12. Sox only have control over him for 1.5 years. If they can sneak decent value out of him for about $2M at most, I don't see what the fuss is. I hope he pitches lights out and gets a big contract out of some other team.
  13. Law has been consistently HIGH on Arias. Interesting to read his notes.
  14. They kind of fell apart in '21 and needed to back into the WC, so I guess it's been 4 straight years of struggling down the stretch?
  15. After the last two series, the remaining schedule drops off considerably to like 12th toughest. Sox just have to stay afloat this week and then not fall apart down the stretch the way they have the previous 3 seasons.
  16. Went from being the #2 starter to the closer in the blink of an eye. Not sure why he bounced around so much after his injury. He was a very good reliever.
  17. Why do I care how he pitched with Minnesota? His 14 appearances here have been good enough for me. He's going to regress, but he seems to be a capable middle reliever. He's very good a limiting hard contact. If he can keep that bb rate low, he'll be just fine. Bailey found a way to reduce Chapman's bb rate. Now Alcala's is half of what it was in MN.
  18. Perfect technique by Kelly, who takes a guy right to the ground and pounds on him. Coco Crap dodges a punch, barely registers with his punch and then is immediately thrown to the ground. Sad showing! Tim Anderson-esque?
  19. I was at the Brett Myers game. It went well for the Red Sox.
