  1. It doesn't seem to be the case when looking at the past few games on statcast. He's just swinging at everything no matter what the pitch is or count. Without knowing what they are doing, it's just guesswork. I don't believe it is the reason his numbers look so awful though.
  2. For a team that is trying to compete for the playoffs and has not reasonable replacement for closer, I'm not sure they can trade him at this point. If they didn't go on the 10 game winning streak, it was definitely on the table. This team would have to completely fall apart for them to deal him. I think they are buyers at this point.
  3. He's seeing less pitches per PA this season in AAA than last year. If it was pitch recognition, you think they'd want that number to go up. His k rate is up to 34% (was 21%). I assume they are trying to get him to pull the ball, but he's still going oppo 40% of the time. I don't know what they could be possibly doing development wise that would tank his numbers like this. Tying his shoes together?
  4. I don't agree with this. Fundamentals are down completely across the game. Young players spend more time hitting than anything else. Fielding is perceived to be far less important in their development and moving on to high school, college or getting drafted.
  5. You don't believe that they didn't care about him getting better defensively, but believe that they torpedoed him by moving him around and never sticking him at one position to truly learn it. To me, that's the definition of not caring.
  6. Chapman hadn't had an ERA below 3 since 2019. He's turning back the clock this year, but I wouldn't expect him to keep it up for a few more years beyond this. He has a career low WHIP this season. This is the best he's ever pitched. Enjoy it while it lasts IMO. His performance is house money right now.
  7. I believe they aren't allowed to trade Witherspoon until the offseason.
  8. The Red Sox had zero interest in making him a quality defender prior to calling him up. I'm not sure that's changing now.
  9. He was being a true Captain by putting the loss on himself and not the pitcher.
  10. If he gets dealt, I hope it's to a team that has a direct path for him to get playing time. I'd rather it be here though. His defense is supposed to be somewhat decent at 1b too.
  11. What I'm saying is that the types of pitches he'll see in MLB aren't indicative of the pitches he'll see in AAA. He may master AAA pitching and may continue to struggle after promotion. That's just how some players turn out. It says nothing about the value of the minors, just the learning curve as players advance.
  12. Uehara didn't appear in an MLB game until he was 34 and was 38 when signed to Boston. Are you thinking of someone else?
  13. What is he going to learn in AAA that will get him ready for MLB? There is a huge difference in pitching. Even if he starts to rake in AAA again, it won't show that he's ready to be promoted. Is he working on pulling the ball with authority or pitch recognition? Did he have those issues prior to April? The Sox clearly either felt he was the most ready, or just wanted him up because he was the only guy who they could extend.
  14. I was told he wouldn’t wear down and not to worry about it.
  15. A lot of players do these days. He’s hitting circles around Duran and most of the team.
  16. He could have his B game and it may not matter with Buehler on the bump.
  17. Dear Trevor Story, I told everyone you'd be a 4 WAR player this year. What gives? Will you apologize to me? You have a 083 OPS in the 2nd half. Get traded or move to 2b, Me
  18. What I want: C #3 (Keller) 2 RP (one high leverage setup, one medium leverage) What we'll likely acquire: 1b #5 (Merrill Kelly) RP (medium leverage)
  19. Keller AVG start '25: 6IP, 2.3 ER Fitts AVG start '25: 4.3IP, 2.0 ER Bello AVG start '25: 5.7IP, 2.1 ER Give me a guy who averages better than a QS every time out.
