  1. Prior to his TJS, he wasn't good in MLB (he was projected to be and rushed through the minors). Since coming back, he's only pitched 140 innings of high quality ball. It's not a track record I can really trust TBH. Maybe he's a #2 or even better? I just haven't personally seen him pitch and am only going by his FanGraphs, bref and Savant pages. I'd be more comfortable with Ryan than Bubic, but there's a very good chance that Bubic is better than Ryan. Ryan is more of a known commodity and I believe the Sox could really make a run with him and Crochet.
  2. Henry maybe made the decision to go lighter on payroll and not sign Schwarber, BUT THEY STILL ENDED UP GOING OVER THE LUX TAX in 2022! I would have rather done so with Schwarber on board.
  3. Cheering for the Red Sox in a Red Sox forum... How could we let this happen?!?!?
  4. Cabrera, Alcantara and Gallen aren't guys you pair with Crochet for a stretch run this year. They each have individual issues that would involve tweaks to getting them to becoming #2's. I'd have Bello and maybe even Giolito in front of them at this point. The only guy that has been a good pairing with Crochet would be Ryan.
  5. "We can't pay two DH's! What are we billionaires made of money?!?!?" I believe that was the argument at the time.
  6. This is the one matchup I liked. Bats need to really show up though. Gio has been on a hot streak. Luzardo has been really up and down with some disastrous starts. Only 2 games over 5 IP in his last 6 starts. Their bullpen is rested though (last in MLB in IP).
  7. Red Sox have a .500 win % when Bregman is on the active roster. 🤬 Maybe Manfred can do the right thing and finally suspend those HOU players.
  8. I don't see him moving Bregman around. That guy's ego must be the size of the Titanic! Just like what he's doing to the Sox W/L %! 😎
  9. He moves guys around, because the team he has isn't that good and the construction of it is poor. He wasn't really doing that when he had really good players in 2018. Now he's been given roster with 6 OFers, which is wild. He isn't going to have these guys languish on the bench, so he's trying to figure out how to fit them in. He is also trying to play everyone as much as possible prior to the trade deadline so that opposing scouts can see them.
  10. Jhostynxon: 2 taters Johanfran: walkoff tater
  11. Glad I could convince you! 😎 I hope Devers has a long fruitful career in SF and that the Sox win a bunch of championships without him.
  12. He wasn't the only one. There were Sox scouts that had liked Masa for a while. Those scouts were still with the team at least through last season. IDK if they were purged post audit.
  13. Good starters and rough pitching matchups. This was going to be a pretty tough series for them.
  14. But haven't you considered the feelings of Breslow and ownership and how THEY were slighted?
  15. Hard to play 1b if you're injured. Even harder to want to play 1b if your bosses don't communicate with you and then get pissy with you in the media.
  16. He started 68% of last seasons games. That's not even including his two 10 day IL stints. The number is most likely lower than 30%. This season he has started 69% of the games. That's not including his lone 10 day IL stint.
  17. Agree about Bowden. Disagree about Wilyer being a platoon, but Duran not being a platoon hitter. Duran has been worse against LHP than Abreu this season. It's not clear cut that one is better than the other, so it isn't fair to paint in such a broad stroke IMO. It's just personal preference. Overall, they are about the same to me, so it's up to Breslow to choose.
  18. He didn't hit 9th like the Red Sox 1b. Good riddance though! 🙃
  19. Some people were upset about Renfroe, Schwarber was the much bigger loss.
  20. It was a bad call by the ump. Lou thinks so as well. Runner was safe though.
  21. Usually, if they are moving guys around that low in the minors, it's because they are trying to find a defensive home for the player, not to make the player more versatile (ex. Justin Gonzales, Yoeilin Cespedes. Blaze, Brannon, Matthew Lugo). With Rafaela, they tried him in the OF to see what it looked like and he took to it almost immediately. From that point, he was like 75/25 CF/SS. That may be an exception due to his outstanding defense. Otherwise, they haven't gone in that direction from what I remember.
