  1. His contract isn't large enough to non-tender. While remote (IMO), he still has a ceiling that you want to hold onto.
  2. Opting out just to get another 30M over 2 seasons? We'll see.
  3. Story will be going into his 33 season and played an awful SS this year. If he opts out, it's a blessing for the Sox.
  4. You think they couldn't afford lunch after receiving those gate receipts?
  5. It matters because Sox fans spend the 3rd most in all of MLB. To be run out of the WC round by the Yankees and not try to come back even stronger next season is TURTLING.
  6. Crawford's initial outlook prior to '23 was backend/bulk. With the missed time and bad results of '24, seems like a reasonable outcome, no? SP had him as: Summation: Projects as middle reliever. Ceiling of a high-quality swingman, capable of pitching in short or long relief outings with the occasional spot start as well. Casas is a little bit of a different story. His problem is strictly the injury he's coming off of. If it was a different injury, I may be more optimistic. This one is very likely a career ender. Also, a lot of the word choice the Sox are using in regards to his recovery timeline is interesting. For Mayer and Anthony it's "progressing normally/well." For Casas it's "recovery has been complicated due to the nature of his injury, but hasn't had any setbacks." That's a very interesting way to talk about his injury considering how serious I believe this injury to be.
  7. Let's not hold him to a standard he was setting just 6 years ago then!
  8. He got the HR flu in '24 and was out all of '25. Hard to see what the path forward is. Back end/bulk guy most likely.
  9. 10th highest spending ballclub. Celebrate good times come on!!!!
  10. NYM may just go internal with Vientos and Baty, but load up on pitching. That's how the Dodgers have been successful.
  11. They don't need MORE money to sign the players. They already have it.
  12. It's the offseason. They can either sign a fulltime guy or trade for one. Last year they were planning on Casas being there for 140 games. They can't do that this year.
  13. Casas is ARB eligible this year and has only amassed 2.2 fWAR his whole career. His best season was only 1.5 fWAR. That was supposed to be just the beginning. This is three years later and we're still waiting on him to even reach his 50 percentile outcome. With this injury, I really see him struggling to get back and am not counting on him. I don't see him ever hitting like '23 again.
  14. Why trade Casas now? He's injured and has no value. His contract is peanuts. Just stash him in AAA until he looks healthy enough to build value again.
  15. Why would they put a GG RFer at 1B? Duran is one of the fastest players in MLB. Putting him at 1B is certainly a choice. He was moved to the OF for a reason.
  16. Perales and Neely are both in the AFL right now. No major updates on the other injuries (Paez, Monegro, Valera, Cason, etc.). Paez and Valera were both throwing in Ft Myers. Monegro and Cason had TJS and will be out for a while.
  17. With how he hit for the Sox, he didn't need to show up on time.
  18. I'm less concerned about Rafaela's k % and his overall approach of being a bad ball hitter. He only had 3.61 pitches per PA. His looking k % was 16.5% (league av is 25). His swung at strikes % was 83.5 (league av is 75). Percentage of pitches swung at was 58.9% (av is 48). First pitch swing was 48.9% (av is 32.7). Out of zone swing % is 45!!! He's an outlier in all of these categories.
  19. I don't know how much his bat will ever develop because of that hit tool. He just needs to swing. It's in his DNA. It will hold him back. I doubt the Sox would trade him because the value his glove brings vs his overall contract. I also don't want Campbell or Garcia put in the position to be an Opening Day starter in the OF. Going from a surplus to a deficit seems bad IMO.
  20. Okamoto could probably be the starter at 3b if they needed him to be. That's who I've preferred the past few weeks.
  21. I still wouldn't want him for 8 years with his risk TBH. His floor is very low due to the k rate (bad Joey Gallo).
  22. Non-tender Houck? If Houck was a FA, he's exactly the type of guy the Sox would sign and stash for a year (Sandoval, Big Maple, Hendriks, etc.).
  23. Long term deal since he's mid 20's.
  24. If Suarez is a 1b, his value goes down to well below 20M AAV. At his age, why would he get 3 years with those high AAV's? Walker got 3/60 last year, but he's gold glove caliber defensively at 1b with 120 OPS+.
