    Per the article above, "his cost will be substantial." Therefore, each one of my posts concerning Cease has referenced the word "overpay." I'm directly stating "if it's an overpay, I don't want Cease." If it's a fair trade, I'm nonplussed about a Cease trade.

    I'm not for overpaying for Cease. He doesn't do it for me. He's just a wildly inconsistent guy and if you simply want to lengthen the rotation, you can get a similar option with a cheaper deal. If he's pitching this bad at Petco, I don't want to see him at Fenway.

    There already are key injuries IMO. Mayer could be out for a while and there isn't a good solution at 2b. They will end up putting Rafaela at 2b most likely, which helps the offense, but hurts the defense (Masa will have to put on football pads to play LF with Duran out there apparently). Bregman is now physically limited. We don't know if his leg will get better over time, or if it just needs offseason rest. Dobbins is out. Tanner is out. Significant 60 day IL: Casas, Crawford, Winckowski, Slaten (all expected to be contributors prior to the season)

    Murphy really wouldn't have had a starting role until 2010. He probably would have been dealt at some point just like Josh Reddick was. They used to manage the OF roster crunch by dealing players.

    That trade worked out for both teams. Sox needed an experienced starter and the O's needed young talent. Boddicker contributed to two playoff runs (9.1 fWAR, 11.4 bWAR) in his 2.5 years with the Sox. Schilling didn't become a very good starter until '92 and had already been moved from the O's to HOU to PHI.

    The same wrist he had an issue with in '22 that had him miss a month. This was just caused by him swinging the bat and not a contact issue, correct?

    Ruth was moved in the offseason. According to the guy I bought my last mattress from, the trade was Jeff Bagwell for Phil Plantier. I was so confused as to where he came up with that nonsense. He said his family used to nanny for someone in the Bagwell family or something. At least the mattress has worked out ok so far (Prana, FYI).

    Overpay for a 4.64 starter. Where do I sign up? High BB/9. High HR/9. High BABIP (same rate as '21, '23). Low LOB%. Gets barreled like he's playing Donkey Kong (12th percentile). He's a two pitch pitcher (88% slider or 4 seam) and the FB has a negative run value. When he's putting it all together, it's great to watch. He can fall apart really quickly though. Not worth an overpay for only 2 months.
