    I'd rather Hannigan and Leon than Suzuki. Suzuki can hit a little better, but his glove is way worse imo.

    That's why watching the scoreboard in July doesn't make much sense to me. If the Sox are playing well, they should be in the hunt come September. Worrying if they are 2 or 3 games back and fretting over every Orioles win just seems like a waste to me.

    If he's on the team come August 1, his option will be picked up. It's a no brainer at this point. He's due for a good solid half season next year. If you add that in with a replacement level pitcher, you get a solid starter.

    Buchholz straight up for Santana? Maybe they don't see any of their starters being ready until late 2018/early 2019? If that's the case, then I guess you do it since the FA market is pretty dismal this year.

    Is first pitch OPS skewed because you can't strike out? How does a swing and miss affect the OPS here? Maybe I'm just tired from a weekend at the beach, but how is OPS calculated for only one pitch?

    I probably would too. There's no telling that Schilling would have played well in Boston early in his career. We probably would have dumped him at some point anyway under Duquette.

    Would Iglesias even be a starter on this team? Bogey was better the moment he came up. My guess is that Iglesias would have been traded at some point anyway.

    Sox hadn't won in 70 years and they gave up some prospects for a workhorse who pitched well in 1988 and 1990. Schilling was as good in 1990, but they were really trying to strike while Evans, Rice and Boggs were still in their primes. They also had Greenwell and Burks playing like gangbusters. Clemens and Hurst were still in the rotation. That's a team you load up for each and every time.

    I mentioned the Boddicker trade a few weeks ago. I don't think they've acquired any pitcher like that since during the season. Boddicker was more of a sure thing that Pomeranz.

    No one dealt was THAT much better than Bedard and they didn't give up anything of value for him.

    We were more than "somewhat lucky" with what Wright has provided. We basically walked into a bank, grabbed a bunch of cash, fled and the bank just shrugged their shoulders.
