  1. Wright isn't pitching again this year.
  2. I'm just glad that Farrell decided he didn't need Wright to be able to pitch down the stretch. They really didn't need their 3rd (maybe 4th) best starter for the stretch run.
  3. I didn't say he did provide what was expected. My sentence was "if... Hill provided what was expected, Moncada would be playing sparingly." Moncada isn't playing sparingly. Therefore, Hill isn't providing what was expected.
  4. I think "mental problems" are overstated for MLB players. You won't be pitching in MLB for very long if you aren't mentally tough.
  5. And he was limited in previous starts as well. His previous 3 starts were in order 71, 81 and 94 pitches. His first start after a return to the rotation has been met with a quick hook and not necessarily due to performance.
  6. I think the bruised ego rationale is better suited to young pitchers rather than young hitters. Hitters are used to failing 70% of the time. He just needs to be given him time to adjust.
  7. If Shaw wasn't in a free fall and Hill provided what was expected, Moncada would be playing sparingly. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Moncada was brought up because they needed him.
  8. Uh, wut?
  9. He strikes out a lot, but you have to stick with him through the end of the year. Shaw and Hill weren't playing all that great anyway. Soxprospects was saying his high K rate was due to him knowing "the strike zone better than the AA umps." Maybe it's not really the case?
  10. Except that losing to the Jays or O's would hurt them more than losing to the Padres since they are not competing for a WC spot with the Padres. Some wins are more important than others. For example, if they lose the next 2 games, there's a chance that they could still only be one game back. However, if they lost 2 straight games to the Jays, they'd fall 3 games back.
  11. How about batting gloves or eye-black?
  12. 35 errors on the road? Each inning would average about 4 errors at this point. The fact that the record was tied is meaningless.
  13. Obviously, that team already values and requires versatility. The need has not diminished one iota, obviously.
  14. He had never caught for Pomeranz before the trade, so why would it be a Pomeranz move? They picked him up because Hanigan was injured and they wanted a solid backup to Leon while Vazquez was still playing in AAA.
  15. The need for versatility never diminishes.
  16. Would the robots have stirrups?
  17. There was more of a chance of him getting DFA'd than having his option picked up just so that they could trade him.

    The Cubs

If I worked with Yankees fans, it could be annoying. Fortunately, I don't have many Yankees fans in my life. Honestly, the most annoying Yankees fans I ever had to deal with were in CA.
  19. But they won't. What's the point in discussing it if there's no way it'll happen?
  20. If he were on the FA market maybe. He won't get there though.
  21. Yup, those 50 AB's show that he's definitely better than former All Star Brock Holt!
  22. Career MILB numbers: Hernandez - .320/.396 430 k's 131 bb's Holt - .373-.410 277k's 187 bb's Hernandez has a little more pure power (i.e. HR's) than Holt, but he strikes out a ton, walks less and still has a lower slugging than Holt.
  23. Then feel free to look at the rest of Marco's MILB numbers which are still not as good as Brock's were. Just because he's played well over a short stretch, doesn't mean that Hernandez has suddenly turned into a MLB regular.
  24. Well, you already cherry picked his stats by saying his first month shouldn't count.
  25. Holt has a much higher OPS in AAA than Hernandez has. Once Hernandez has been up in the majors long enough to be charted, he'll start to struggle. It's not like his bat was setting the world on fire in AAA this year.
