  1. His injury history is not much different than Stanton's. A lot of his injuries were not soft tissue injuries (i.e. hammies that keep popping up) but rather from in game contact (hit by pitch, diving for a ball).
  2. I saw a chart that showed how is HR's would overlay at Fenway. Apparently, only 5 of the LF shots were low enough to not clear the wall.
  3. People were more concerned about last year's budget so that they would stay under the cap and not carry a huge penalty going forward. The Sox are going to spend this winter and they can get anyone they want (except for Otani).
  4. Davis was a 37 y/o pinch runner. He wasn't brought in for his bat.
  5. Granderson? Nah. Too old and is a lefty bat. They need a right hand hitting 4th OF.
  6. He's a bench bat. I'm not sure people fretted about Mike Carp's defense all that often.
  7. He hit about .280 last time he was up in BOS. If he can keep that up with his new power profile, that's a pretty high value for a platoon 4th OF type.
  8. And the MLB team was a last place dud.
  9. A long two weeks away!
  10. Looks like his last game was Nov 14th when he was added to the 40 man roster.
  11. @EvanDrellich Where things stand now, unless something changes, source says Red Sox are an "extreme long shot" for Giancarlo Stanton for a variety of reasons, starting with asking price.
  12. I wouldn't say "a few" and I certainly wouldn't say "all".
  13. Anger rising...
  14. Espinoza is now only the 7th ranked Padres prospect.
  15. There are no more Keith Hernandezes.
  16. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/11/giancarlo-stanton-trade-rumors-dodgers.html Giancarlo Stanton Trade Rumors: Monday By Steve Adams | November 27, 2017 at 2:49pm CDT The Giancarlo Stanton trade saga has been one of the top storylines of the offseason, and there’s no end in sight at the time being. To date, the Cardinals and Giants have reportedly submitted formal offers, while the Dodgers and Red Sox have also been linked to the slugger. We’ll track today’s developments on the Stanton front right here: ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick reports that other clubs have gotten the sense that there’ll be resolution on the Stanton talks one way or another by the time the Winter Meetings kick off on Dec. 10. That is to say, the Marlins will either have traded him by that point or interested parties will have exhausted their patience and begun to explore other possibilities on the trade and free-agent markets. Crasnick also notes that while the Cardinals and Giants are the most oft-cited suitors, there are other clubs that are in active pursuit of Stanton.
  17. @ScottLauber From last week: "Less than 50-50" that Giancarlo Stanton approves trade to #RedSox as long as West Coast options remain. Still, Sox must remain engaged. Stanton thinks you'd look better in Dodger Blue.
  18. I agree. He was pretty good, but not really worth what the Sox spent.
  19. Abad and Scott have great splits against LHB tho. Elias isn't that good at getting lefties out.
  20. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/11/braves-trade-rumors-matt-adams.html For teams that view Adams as a bench bat, however, committing $4MM+ to a defensively limited reserve option at this stage of the offseason is a tough sell. Mitch Moreland has a reputation as one of the game’s best defenders at first base and signed for a one-year, $5.5MM contract in Boston last winter, while Adam Lind, a player with a comparable skill set to Adams, settled for a one-year, $1.5MM pact with the Nationals in mid-February. Many teams would likely consider Adams a viable backup option behind their preferred offseason targets, but that won’t help him at this juncture of a slow-moving offseason, as the top targets for each of those clubs are all still in play.
  21. That sounds like a terrible dream. Dream big!
  22. It's why I said bench bat. Yuck. Platoon with Shaw maybe?
  23. You could convince me to keep Owens instead of Elias.
  24. In AAA most likely.
  25. Bench bat at best for the Sox. Yuck.
