Nothing is confirmed, but Morosi hears that some teams pursuing Stanton believe that the Dodgers are his first choice and he won't accept a trade anywhere until there's some clarity with the situation. Of course, Stanton is from the Los Angeles area. It remains to be seen if the enthusiasm is mutual here, as the Dodgers are already paying the luxury tax. Meanwhile, Stanton has 10 years and $295 million remaining on his contract. Most expect the Marlins will have to pay down some of the contract, but they might not mind doing that with the Dodgers, who have a strong farm system. The Giants and Cardinals have been mentioned most prominently among interested clubs in the early part of the Hot Stove. Nov 27 - 1:41 PM

It'd be great to sign him, but we don't have enough International $$$ to bring him here. Why would he sign a 3-4 year deal with the Sox for $462k/year? I believe the Yanks and Twins can offer over 7 times that amount.

He's only pitched out of the pen 5 times in his entire professional career. If he's in the pen, it'll be in AAA.

Not true at all. A simple check at former mvps list a few players that were paid less than Pedroia at contract signing time (Rollins among others). Let’s just make s*** up tho!

I think HanRam is gone sooner or later. It's about time Stanton learned to play 1B. It would only help him in FA when he opts out in a few years. I think he doesn't want the DH stink on him.

Giancarlo Stanton put on a show for the ages Monday night in San Diego, sending a record 61 baseballs over the fence at Petco Park to win the 2016 MLB Home Run Derby. The Miami Marlins outfielder bashed 24 homers in a quarterfinal rout of Robinson Cano, 17 in the semis to knock off Mark Trumbo (who more than held his own and was the only player to hit a ball off the left field video board) and another 20 in the finals to eliminate defending champ Todd Frazier. Stanton also had the eight longest home runs of the evening and 20 of the longest 21. It was an awe-inspiring performance to say the least, and even Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz, a former Derby champ himself, couldn’t believe what he was watching. “What you saw right there,” Ortiz said while being interview by ESPN’s broadcast team during the competition, “that ain’t human.” The retiring Red Sox star also coined a new nickname for Stanton: “the Human Avatar.”

If they trade Beni for Stanton, Stanton easily fits into LF. If they trade JBJ for Stanton, does Beni get moved to CF? Beni to RF and Mookie to CF?

@NBC10_Joe A source tells me that the #RedSox are still very much in play for Giancarlo Stanton. In fact the only reason that he was not hot on Boston right away is because of the cold weather. His top choice is the Dodgers, then the Giants after that if they can put together a contender. Someone let him know that average gametime temps are colder in SF than BOS!
