  1. @tmckernan From @CraigMish on @TMASTL re: #STLCards and #Stanton: I have been told the #SFGiants are willing to take on the entire contract, and that makes the Giants the favorites right now with the Cardinals in second place. I think the Giants are all-in until the end to get Stanton. @tmckernan From @CraigMish: I think the #STLCards have the most have to offer. It's my belief that the #SFGiants are all-in on this, so that makes the Giants the favorite. So, I'd rank it: 1. Giants 2. Cardinals 3. #Dodgers 4. #RedSox
  2. 4th in just 93 games is VERY misleading. Of the players lower than him in WAR in 2015, only Brock Holt played more games (2.5 vs Pedey's 2.6). JBJ played in fewer games and was at 2.5. And if you think that's a clean slide, I don't know what to tell you. You are no longer allowed to slide through the bag in the way Machado did. Edit: And I never once said trade him for nothing. I've always said trade him before his value slips to where you can't get anything for him. I wanted him traded during/after 2016 when his WAR was higher than it had been for 5 years.
  3. Stanton will opt out in 3 years. Stanton's asking price has been noted as being high. At least kick the tires, which is what the Sox are rightfully doing. I would be shocked if the talks between the terms were moving along and the Sox said "well, let's just trade MORE assets for Abreu than we would have for Stanton."
  4. He was a 28 year old minor leaguer last year when his power developed. He seems to have a track similar to Brandon Moss who was a capable player from 28 - 31. All anyone is really saying is give him a chance.
  5. Less than what it would take to get Stanton probably and he plays a position that actually needs to be filled.
  6. Considering the length of contracts, it would have been harder to go over last year (and still be worth it), but stay under this year.
  7. No, that was Bobby Abreu.
  8. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/11/red-sox-other-teams-discussing-jose-abreu-trade-scenarios-with-white-sox-mlb-rumors.html The Red Sox are among the organizations “in active talks” with the White Sox regarding veteran slugger Jose Abreu, according to Jon Heyman of Fan Rag (via Twitter). It is not clear at the moment which other teams might be involved or how far talks might have progressed. MLBTR’s Mark Polishuk recently examined the potential market for Abreu, citing Boston as one of the major possible suitors. Of course, there are also quite a few other organizations that would likely see merit in his contract rights. Trade for Abreu. Sign JD. Two more rings AT LEAST.
  9. A 4th OF doesn't have to play CF for this team when all current starting OFers can play CF adequately. A big lumbering LF bat would be fine.
  10. Travis Shaw was a better MLB hitter than a AAA hitter. You never know until they are given the chance.
  11. He's from LA and wants to play in front of his home crowd. I get it. If that's what he really wants, he should just not waive his no trade clause and opt out in 3 years. Also, I'm pretty sure that DD can look into signing JD and trading for Stanton all at the same time if he wants. I'm sure he's able to multitask and JD probably won't be signing in the next few days anyway.
  12. Well, when I first started grumbling about Pedroia in the 2015 offseason, no one was remotely on board with me at all. One poster told me not to talk about it as it would generate too much ridicule, but I gotta be me.
  13. Yup, looks like passing on EE was the wrong move.
  14. “It was not a mistake,’’ said Michelle Rand, senior brand manager for Turner Licensing. Rather, it’s more a matter of not being able to predict the future. The deadline for the calendar is always the previous May, and in May of 2017, Sandoval was still a member of the Red Sox organization, just not a very productive one. It’s not an ideal time to forecast what a baseball roster will look like for the following season.
  15. Terrible post. I believe he only ever achieved the rank of lieutenant commander. By 2379, Data was expected to succeed Commander Riker as first officer following Riker's promotion to captain of the USS Titan. En route to Betazed for the second phase of Riker's wedding to Counselor Troi, the Enterprise discovered B-4, one of the three prototype Soong-type androids Data had learned about years earlier, physically identical to him but having a less sophisticated positronic brain. Trying to help him become more Human, Data copied his own memories into B-4's positronic net. Before Data could take the role of first officer of the Enterprise, the Enterprise was ordered to Romulus where a new praetor, Shinzon, had come to power. Shinzon's self-asserted good intentions, however, were soon found to be false. In reality, Shinzon was discovered to be a clone of Captain Picard and, due to genetic degeneration, he was in need of Picard's blood in order to restore his life. After Shinzon's vessel, the Scimitar, had all but destroyed the Enterprise, Shinzon planned to eliminate the crew with his thalaron radiation weapon before turning it on Earth. Though Picard was able to defeat Shinzon in hand-to-hand combat, Picard was trapped aboard the Scimitar due to damage to the Enterprise transporters. With no other option, Data elected to physically jump into the vacuum of space through a hull breach in the forward section of the Enterprise – and force his way aboard the Scimitar from the outside. Proceeding to the Scimitar bridge, Data utilized a prototype emergency transport unit concealed in his forearm, to return Picard to the Enterprise. With the thalaron radiation weapon seconds away from firing, Data used his phaser to destroy it, which resulted in the complete destruction of the Scimitar – and Data as well.
  16. All that needs to be said is that Theo was better than Ben or DD and ownership was dumb for not taking control away from Larry and forcing Theo out.
  17. This is crazy talk. You can't pick and chose who gets the credit. That information isn't out there and you weren't in the front office.
  18. ********. You never carry on and on about the same gripe for a whole season.
  19. How much talent do you need in the pipeline if you can sign your 3b, SS, OF, C on long term deals if you want to keep them?
  20. This is a good point.
  21. That was years before they went belly up two straight years.
  22. There's no way to really say that for sure.
  23. And that's why Pedroia needs to be traded. He's a bad hombre. Bad genetics. Doesn't stick up for his teammates. Sad!
  24. Especially if he can opt out in a few years.
  25. If all things were equal. However, you have to give up players of value for Stanton. For JD, it's just money.
