I'm not sure it's an unfair labor practice. The employer is basically MLB, not the individual teams. The only unfair thing about it is the limitation on how much you can spend.
His FIP with the Sox was lower than his career average. His k/9 with the Sox was higher than his career average. His BABIP was 120+ points higher than any other time in his career.

He quit the game too early to deserve recognition. He needed to drag it out a few more years going back and forth from MiLB roster to Korean roster to MiLB roster to earn a spot in the HOF. Voters don't like that he didn't show enough commitment to the game.
I agree with you on that point and wasn't trying to argue that you should have known where he was now. Dude is a baseball vagabond and someday may join in the ranks of the Edwin Jackson, Octavio Dotel, Matt Stairs, Mike Morgan, Ron Villone cabal.
