  1. @TBTimes_Rays 4 no-hit innings for #Rays Beeks after 2 1-hit innings by Wood. #Rays lead #Angels 4-0
  2. They extended him and he proceeded to have his shittiest season of his MLB career. Bad extension. I don't think he's a guy that would have cost a lot on the open market. Him and Leon seem like season to season guys. Easily replaceable.
  3. Well, Vaz won't be able to come off from the DL until September. At that point, we'll know more about Swihart. Rosters will expand and they can carry 3 catchers. If Swihart is still playing well and calling a good game, either Leon or Vazquez won't make the postseason roster. Vaz has the edge due to his contract, but maybe Cora just likes Leon better?
  4. Too bad they extended Vaz for 3 more years.
  5. No beer yet tho.
  6. There it is...
  7. Sounds like a plan.
  8. Look, he wasn't great, but he was better than he has been. The GameScore he got was 50, which was a perfectly average start. I hope he gets better because that's what would be best for the Sox. I'm not a huge Pomeranz fan or anything and I wouldn't sign him to come back next year.
  9. Making use of that short porch.
  10. Good one with this. I wouldn't have expected him to get his 2016 A's form, but he did. Maybe the old racist tweets he had out there were really weighing on him.
  11. With Cosart, it was less about the talent he was facing and more about the fact that he could barely hit the k zone. He had an ungodly 7.48 bb/9 in 2017. It's not like he is lighting the world on fire in high A as a 24 year old since he's been sent down either. It doesn't help that his velo has dropped 3 mph. From SP: Summation: Potential to develop into a seventh-inning reliever if he can continue to refine command and control and develop a secondary offering to compliment his fastball. Unique mechanics provide deception, but also put a tremendous amount of stress on his arm and as a result, greatly increases his injury risk. High-risk prospect with low floor, but some upside if things work out. Also, Cosart has a brutal, max-effort delivery which features no incorporation of his lower half or extension, instead relying on his lightning-quick arm. Even when he is on, Cosart can have trouble throwing strikes at times. Hard to really compare Feltman to him at all.
  12. To me, it's still too early to definitively make a stance on how Swihart fits in, but the returns have been ok. I don't expect him to have a 1.000+ OPS going forward. If he can hit better than average and be an average defender, he may be more valuable than Vazquez. At the end of the day, I don't think that there's anything that makes any of the 3 current Catchers stand out. Vazquez was supposed to be a superior defender, but I don't think he's any better than Leon. Leon is just a solid backup who can hit a little and defend a little. Swihart definitely has the highest upside, but is still a big unknown. https://www.foxsports.com/mlb/boston-red-sox-team-stats?season=2018&category=FIELDING+II&group=1&sort=8&time=0&pos=0&qual=0&splitType=0
  13. I bet Swihart has a better arm than Xander.
  14. I mean... he's thrown out base stealers before. This isn't some new skill he just learned. He had a caught stealing % of .281 in 2015 which is basically league average. Blake's defensive issues in the past were usually passed balls. So far, he has 0 in 60 innings. He averaged 1 PB every 43 innings in 2015.
  15. Most likely unless someone else gets injured or really falters.
  16. Yeah, Blake’s mom must have been a real looker.
  17. Vaz just stays on the DL until Spring Training.
  18. 1081 OPS since July 6th.
  19. Workman was brought back up when Sale went on the DL
  20. If Pom went 9 innings and gave up only 2 runs, they still would have lost. He wasn't the problem.
  21. His payroll has no bearing on how well he performs. At this point, it's not relevant to any argument except for if they should try to sign him next year.
  22. Facts don't matter to some people.
  23. He pitched fine last night.
  24. It's like I post these things and no one reads them. The velocity isn't the issue with Pom.
  25. Pom wasn’t the reason they lost. He pitched fine. 2 runs over 5 innings is ok for a 5th starter. That’s what we say about ERod anyway.
