  1. I agree. Slasher was just worried about JDM's defense. I don't think that's the bigger issue in play.
  2. I'm sure even Porcello isn't expecting 20M per.
  3. To me, I'd still play JBJ primarily as a starting CFer and hope he hits his way out of it. I think Betts and Beni are bigger issues right now as I think the Sox hoped Beni would have made a jump this year and expected Betts to be a little more consistent (seems to be doing and even/odd year thing right now). Beni's k rate is way up, slugging is down and he's demonstrably slower. He's making hard contact so maybe it's just bad luck?
  4. That Robbie Ray/Berrios trade was a joke, right?
  5. They are saving Shawaryn for a start on Thursday (undecided as yet, but I believe it's what they'll do).
  6. Nope. This forum is for the current BOSOX team. Minor league/organizational stuff is posted in the Red Sox Minor League forum where the 2018 thread exists. https://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/18638-2018-MLB-Draft-Thread
  7. Bruins were rusty in games 1 and 2. Looked much sharper in game 3, especially the Bergeron line.
  8. Gorkys, Witte and Ockimey had taters for PAW yesterday. Corcino and Matheny also found taters. Despite a slow start to the season Matheny has come alive as of late, notching nine hits in his last five games including all four of his home runs thus far in 2019. The 2015 fourth-round draft pick has steadily climbed the ladder in the Red Sox system, and will look to build on his string of strong performances as the summer approaches.
  9. This would be perfect post for the MiLB forum we have on here.
  10. There are some guys they could move, but I'd let this team ride and fix the issues in the offseason. I'm not sure any of their expiring contracts have value on the trade market.
  11. Nah. Everyone being miserable makes these seasons painful.
  12. Betts RF, Benintendi LF, Martinez DH, Bogaerts SS, Devers 3B, Pearce 1B, Núñez 2B, Bradley CF, León C
  13. @PeteAbe Eovaldi faced Holt and Chavis for what amounted to an inning with the coaches, trainers, rotation mates and others watching. He appeared to have the usual giddy-up to his fastball.
  14. Good one.
  15. Mal gets a pass from me.
  16. He's had a couple of good throws from RF showcasing his arm, but that's about it.
  17. DBacks Twitter is not happy with Swi. If Swihart doesn’t start performing he will be DFA’d Why is Blake Swihart still on this team he’s worse than John Ryan Murphy Swihart, good gatch. Lol. At least he makes up for dropped fly balls with his fantastic offense. I am so sick of Blake Swihart Blake Swihart finna get killed on D’backs Twitter in 5... 4... 3... Blake Swihart has no idea what a strike is. .@RedSox Do you want Swihart back? #Dbacks #RedSoxNation Seriously how much would the Dbacks lose by dropping Swihart and bring up Yasmany? Why is Blake Swihart still getting starts
  18. Casas had one regular tater, Durran had an inside the oven version. Kyle Hart became the first pitcher in Triple-A to throw a nine-inning shutout this season as he stifled the IronPigs. Making his Triple-A debut, the 26-year-old left-hander allowed only five hits and struck out eight without walking a batter. Including his Double-A stats, Hart now has a 2.51 ERA and 68 strikeouts over 64 2/3 innings. Signed for $5,000 as a 19th-round pick in 2016, Kyle Hart impressed in smaller sample sizes over his first two years in the system. 2018 was his first full season, and he logged 138 2/3 innings with Portland after not topping 100 innings in any previous season even going back to college. He predictably hit a wall in the middle of last season, but he was able to bounce back and pitch to a 2.06 ERA over his last 48 innings. He carried that success forward to this season, where he has been arguably the top performing starter in the system, with Thaddeus Ward as his main competition. Hart has increased the usage of his slider and cutter this season, and that has allowed his strikeouts per nine innings to jump from 6.49 in 2018 to 9.46 in 2019.
  19. Lololol
  20. Like you believing Adam Conley is a decent pitcher?
  21. People stanning for goddamn Adam Conley is a new low for this place. He's a f***ing nobody.
  22. Adam Conley is a step up from who on this staff exactly? He's worse than Hembree or Workman. He's basically a AAAA guy. Those guys are irrelevant. Their "control" doesn't matter. Who cares if you have an additional 2 years on a AAAA guy? You can get randos like Walden to come up and give you the same production.
  23. Last year, the Cubs got Brandon Kintzler for a 23 year old A ball pitcher that was nowhere near regarded like Dalbec.
  24. Yes, realism is only found in people that agree with yourself. Dalbec's value as a masher in AA is higher than what Adam Conley (29 year old mop up reliever on a s***** Marlins team) is. Steamer and depth charts have him as a 0 fWAR guy. Dalbec is worth more than that and it's not even up for discussion. Conley is no better than a AAAA reliever. Sox got Addison Reed for spare parts that were far less than a straight up trade for Dalbec. You're vastly overstating what it would take to land some mediocre bullpen arms. But I'm not being realistic though because my opinion conflicts with yours.
