The last year he did any relieving he had a x7.37 FIP and a 9.00 BB/9. Duh.

If it didn't work once, never do it again, I guess? Hansen also played in the bigs the year he was drafted. They are taking more time with Feltman. He's only a #10 prospect because he'll never be more than a bullpen arm. The other guys ahead of him have the potential to be starters. Prospect rankings really ding the worth of a reliever.

To me, Chatham is basically Deven Marrero part 2. He's a guy who will make the majors for his defense, but bounce around for a while. He just doesn't have a huge upside of some of the other prospects who may never make the bigs.

I posted elsewhere, but I believe this list is pretty solid. I would be tempted to move Dalbec up, but overall this list is really good. Groome is projected too high elsewhere. I'd be inclined to move Feltman up too. My top 10 today: Casas Hernandez Chavis Flores Dalbec Decker Houck Feltman Groome Lakins Mata would be 11th and some combination of Reyes/Danny Diaz/Howlett/Chatham to round out top 15.

His defense has always been bad though. That hasn't changed. He's dropping on lists because his bat isn't progressing enough to carry his poor fielding.

I like that they have Groome lower than other places. This order seems much more in line with how I feel than what is posted at Sox Prospects. The only thing I might change is maybe push Dalbec up a slot or two.

He shouldn't be. His stock didn't fall due to defense, his stock fell because his bat isn't improving and his platoon bat and poor athleticism doesn't project well at this point.

He's ready. His stuff won't get any better. His mechanics are just causing him to waste bullets in MiLB. Just bring him up until his arm can't handle it anymore.

I don't believe HS kids are ever expected to be locks. There's always extra risk with those guys.

One great season and a lot of decent ones. If he isn't playing like 2015, he's not worth the contract he's going to get.

No. I think it's too late to transition Ball. If he gets good, he'll start burning through option years before he's really ready. When you have a top 10 pick, you need to nail it. Outside of the top 10 it becomes more of a guessing game than it already is. The Sox "lucked" into Groome, but it hasn't worked out. Groome had an ace ceiling and you grab that guy every time. Ball was just an "athlete" that they overvalued.
