    I'd pinch hit Nate Eaton for Durbin right now. Better bat speed, barrels the ball more. Eaton had a decent whiff rate last time he was up. Durbin has been really dreadful this season. His xwOBAcon is bottom 2% in MLB. Everything he pulls, goes straight into the ground and into a fielder's glove.

    Go read his book. He talks about the downfall of the Red Sox in 2011. It's interesting. Ownership wanted more marketable stars (Youk, Papi and Pedey didn't count apparently) so they got AGon and Crawford. It was more about the tv show of baseball than the product on the field. It's why they refused to do early get away games. It was all about the failing ratings at the time. It's funny because they ended up dumping those guys and then just reversing course and signing Panda and Hanley a few years later for no reason at all except to showcase panda hats every commercial break. These owners are so dumb.

    Francoma was at a meeting with Larry, Henry and Tom on 9/30 when he figured out that it wasn't going to work out because of what ownership was talking about. Werner was hung up over a misunderstanding about clubhouse issues of Francoma not being able to control the players, but Tito really just said that he "couldn't reach" some of the players. He wasn't fired by Theo.

    Easy to hate Breslow since he's (a) the guy who is in charge of adding the players who are underperforming and (b) is unable to communicate to players, media, fans. I've been rather indifferent to Brez since he was hired. He's made some great deals and some pretty bad ones. Right now, the direction of the franchise is entirely on him. If the Sox fail over the next year or two, it's his job on the line.

    He's been here since 2018. The past 8 seasons have been more bad than good with lots of players underperforming. At some point, you do have to look at the coaching staff and say that it's best to move on. Cora is a good coach for the right team. The Sox just have a young core and that's not Cora's forte.

    1960-1966 hitting in the bottom half of the league almost every year, pitching ERA in the bottom 4 almost every year Average wins per year: 71 No way were they more fun to watch over a 7 year stretch like that.

    Yup, just like papa Henry taught you. Instead of looking at a player as an asset, you look at a player's contract as a liability. Good boy.

    Bregman got pissed off that the Sox didn't believe he received an offer from the Cubs. That was when the turn happened. The NTC issue just pushed him over the edge.

    He would have been if he wasn't injured. Sandoval thought he was going to be able to pitch in games last season.

    Eaton is a better offensive player, but much worse defensively. I think their scouting saw more in Durbin than what we're getting on the field. I think their internal metrics and projections aren't all they're cracked up to be.

    Giolito was available like a week ago and signed for only 3M. Seemed like decent enough injury insurance to me considering everything that was happening at the time.

    I have lower expectations for Bennett than for the other two. Bennett is a pitch to contact guy who really needs to locate to do well. On his best day, he's a 4.

    Priester - 1 G, 5 IP with Bailey (1.80 ERA) Harrison - 3 G, 12 IP with Bailey (3.00 ERA) Bailey didn't have that much time with either of these two pitcher. I think they used these pitchers as trade bait, not because they couldn't get anything out of their performance, but because they had depth to trade from. I think Brez is happy with the Priester trade. Not sure what he thinks about the Harrison trade. Elmer Rodriguez didn't throw one pitch for Bailey. If there's a fault there, it lies much further down the pitching dev line. Bailey is in charge of the pitchers throwing in Boston, not the guys throwing all over the org. That was Justin Willard at one point.

    Every time you make a trade or sign a big FA, you should put the Wally head on and strut around the office getting high fives.
