  1. Let him play out the year in AAA if he has to. He still has options. They've wasted time on dead end guys like Vaughn Grissom. At least they can be a little invested in Casas. Let him DH in WOO, hit some dingers and maybe work his way back.
  2. Also, the Sox don't typically non-tender guys. We always try to project a guy or two, but they end up picking up everyone's contract.
  3. I'm not so sure this year. Bleis - too far away and the on field performance has been lacking Castro - not losing sleep if someone takes him Drohan - if selected for the 2nd time he doesn't come back, injury prone Hoppe - could be a reliever at some point, but not reliable right now Monegro - injured Mullins - maybe, lots of injuries, probably selected though Paez - ended the season injured and far away Sandlin - similar to Slaten MiLB numbers, could pop but has been rough Uberstine - depth starter, but not a guy typically selected The two guys that there are decisions on are Mullins and Sandlin. I could see the Sox protecting either or trading either prior to the Rule 5 deadline. There are some issues with both. Everyone else are either unlikely to get drafted or would probably be returned to the Sox if they had to appear on a MLB roster.
  4. 5/200 is just silly.
  5. Not sure that helps with their power outage or defensive issues.
  6. The biggest problem with Sox development is the versatility nonsense they have focused on. Campbell should have just been left at 2b or sent to the OF. Develop him based on where he will succeed, not based on where the Sox need him.
  7. His contract isn't large enough to non-tender. While remote (IMO), he still has a ceiling that you want to hold onto.
  8. Opting out just to get another 30M over 2 seasons? We'll see.
  9. Story will be going into his 33 season and played an awful SS this year. If he opts out, it's a blessing for the Sox.
  10. You think they couldn't afford lunch after receiving those gate receipts?
  11. It matters because Sox fans spend the 3rd most in all of MLB. To be run out of the WC round by the Yankees and not try to come back even stronger next season is TURTLING.
  12. Crawford's initial outlook prior to '23 was backend/bulk. With the missed time and bad results of '24, seems like a reasonable outcome, no? SP had him as: Summation: Projects as middle reliever. Ceiling of a high-quality swingman, capable of pitching in short or long relief outings with the occasional spot start as well. Casas is a little bit of a different story. His problem is strictly the injury he's coming off of. If it was a different injury, I may be more optimistic. This one is very likely a career ender. Also, a lot of the word choice the Sox are using in regards to his recovery timeline is interesting. For Mayer and Anthony it's "progressing normally/well." For Casas it's "recovery has been complicated due to the nature of his injury, but hasn't had any setbacks." That's a very interesting way to talk about his injury considering how serious I believe this injury to be.
  13. Let's not hold him to a standard he was setting just 6 years ago then!
  14. He got the HR flu in '24 and was out all of '25. Hard to see what the path forward is. Back end/bulk guy most likely.
  15. 10th highest spending ballclub. Celebrate good times come on!!!!
  16. NYM may just go internal with Vientos and Baty, but load up on pitching. That's how the Dodgers have been successful.
  17. They don't need MORE money to sign the players. They already have it.
  18. It's the offseason. They can either sign a fulltime guy or trade for one. Last year they were planning on Casas being there for 140 games. They can't do that this year.
  19. Casas is ARB eligible this year and has only amassed 2.2 fWAR his whole career. His best season was only 1.5 fWAR. That was supposed to be just the beginning. This is three years later and we're still waiting on him to even reach his 50 percentile outcome. With this injury, I really see him struggling to get back and am not counting on him. I don't see him ever hitting like '23 again.
  20. Why trade Casas now? He's injured and has no value. His contract is peanuts. Just stash him in AAA until he looks healthy enough to build value again.
  21. Why would they put a GG RFer at 1B? Duran is one of the fastest players in MLB. Putting him at 1B is certainly a choice. He was moved to the OF for a reason.
  22. Perales and Neely are both in the AFL right now. No major updates on the other injuries (Paez, Monegro, Valera, Cason, etc.). Paez and Valera were both throwing in Ft Myers. Monegro and Cason had TJS and will be out for a while.
  23. With how he hit for the Sox, he didn't need to show up on time.
  24. I'm less concerned about Rafaela's k % and his overall approach of being a bad ball hitter. He only had 3.61 pitches per PA. His looking k % was 16.5% (league av is 25). His swung at strikes % was 83.5 (league av is 75). Percentage of pitches swung at was 58.9% (av is 48). First pitch swing was 48.9% (av is 32.7). Out of zone swing % is 45!!! He's an outlier in all of these categories.
