  1. 4 years down the line? He's already contributing now. He's the best hitter the Sox have left.
  2. He shouldn't have traded Devers when he knew he didn't have a 1B then. 🫠 He needed to act like a man and work things out.
  3. You don't have to wait until the deadline to make a trade for a 0.0 fWAR player like Lowe. We talked about a ton of names at the time. It also didn't help that everyone messed up the Raffy situation so bad that they sent the guy out of town who we all figured would inherit 1b at some point anyway.
  4. Only 46 hitters got to 650+ last season. Seems like a weird baseline to use? Only 12% of all eligible opening day positions get there (at most).
  5. Toro gave them a few good weeks. Once it turned south, they should have replaced him quickly. Brezzz was too slow to make a move and it left us more annoyed at Toro than we should have been. Not Toro's fault IMO.
  6. I can't believe he filmed those while still active playing in MLB.
  7. For a player like Sogard or Toro, do you also just grade them a little bit on the curve. Both of them have low ceilings so what is an A season for them? They are never going to be MVP players. Is the best Sogard going to do a C+ season? I'd personally pass on grading the lower end guys that aren't expected to be key contributors.
  8. He had 22 SB and 6 CS last season. I want that success rate to be closer to 85% if I'm keeping him on the bench as a PR.
  9. I'm implying that he's just a very annoying guy all around.
  10. I agree with you. He's not going to be a 40 HR guy because of the GB rate, but he's the franchise.
  11. Saying that Roman isn't worth waiting for is hilarious. There are 29 other teams that would take him off our hands.
  12. Other hitters with high GB rates: Yelich (uh oh), Yandy, Elly, James Wood, Tatis, Michael Harris II, Gunnar, Oneil Cruz, Carlos Correa, Trea Turner, Julio Rodriguez.
  13. TBF, I believe he had the worst DRS from APR - MAY in all of MLB for any position. It was really ugly out there. Was it due to bad management/bad development and them moving him around too much or him just being a bad fielder? That's a different question.
  14. It's not his "initial" GB rate, it's his GB rate. He's always hit like this.
  15. The appeal of Suarez would be the cheaper short term contract and he'd most likely move to 1b.
  16. Nice writeup. The only grade I'd change is Casas to F. He was awful when he was on the field and then got injured. It was a completely wasted season.
  17. He says enough that you can come back later and say "well, why the hell did you say THAT?"
  18. https://www.espn.com/mlb/news/story?id=2147398 https://www.congress.gov/committee-report/109th-congress/house-report/310/1 https://assets.espn.go.com/mlb/news/1999/1109/161388.html 🗑️
  19. If he was having success at Fenway, it was because of the pitching he was facing. He doesn't have a swing for the monster.
  20. He'd be actively killing the worms though?
  21. Whatever helps you sleep at night, I guess.
  22. Anthony had a 140 wRC+, no other projected starter under contract was over 115.
