  1. It's pathetic if you're carrying him as a UTIL/C guy IMO.
  2. That contract scares me too.
  3. Why won't they go over the CBT this season? I think the goal would be go over this year and reset next at the very least. If you're a postseason team, you need to try to keep the train rolling.
  4. He had a down year and was still underpaid per his performance. If he was a FA this year, he'd get more than 210M.
  5. FWIW, Bellinger's career tOPS+ at Fenway is 72, Naylor's is 91 and Schwarber's is 167.
  6. His bat is too pathetic to carry as a 3rd catcher on a MLB roster. If they were stashing him in AAA it wouldn't be a problem.
  7. I don't see Williams's spray chart anywhere. Got a link? I do remember them adding a bullpen to help Williams though! Ortiz's career pull % was 33% with a ton of power. Naylor is 35% with much less power. Bellinger is 37%. Schwarber is 40%, but maybe has the power to overcome how deep the fence is.
  8. If the Sox wanted to deal Hicks this offseason, he needed to turn his season around at some point. It never happened. I think they are stuck with him this year. Maybe in season phantom IL/DFA or trade next offseason?
  9. Salary is low, the ceiling is still high (just the likelihood of getting there is a smaller %). No reason to worry about his 40 man spot yet. They can stash him for awhile. They never used Grissom all last season and a rehabbing Casas is far more important than '25 Grissom ever was.
  10. It may not be a lock he comes back, but it's a lock he's not non-tendered. He'll be at ST in the catching rotation. The contract isn't big enough to clear out just yet and there aren't better options like you said.
  11. Only 45M? Must be the rising construction costs for all the non-baseball activities FSG has going on around Fenway holding payroll down!
  12. I'm also not a fan of pull heavy LHB for Fenway. Doesn't seem like a good fit for BOS.
  13. You pay Casas ARB this year to rehab and get back. If he still looks limited by the injury in September, you can let him go then.
  14. Which FA would you rather have than Wong? I looked at it for catcher and it left me feeling like Wong was fine enough. Bring Vaz back maybe?
  15. Hoskins would ball out at Fenway if you look at his swing profile. It's not a sexy sign, but he'd hit better than Bell or Naylor at Fenway.
  16. It's a lateral move, but they still need to do that AND add elsewhere TBH.
  17. It's the risk you take when trying to sign injured pitchers. I don't think it was reasonable to expect any innings out of him in '25. He should be ready in '26, but a lot of TJS pitchers are a rollercoaster when first coming back.
  18. Cease had a 3.56 xFIP. Not sure he needs a prove it deal.
  19. It will be wonderful listening to Sam/Craig puff up this lineup in the offseason and try to sell some tickets.
  20. Without Devers and Bregman, it's a downgrade from the offense they started with in '25. C Narvaez 1B Casas 2B Romy SS Story 3B Mayer RF Abreu CF Rafaela LF Anthony DH Duran
  21. It's absolutely disgusting. Could you imagine if the underdog Canadian team with the 500M 1b and the 255M payroll won? It's not like they were finalists for the bidding wars of Ohtani or Soto or anything.
  22. Also, SP's listed 6th AAA starter is Shane Drohan who has only thrown 70 IP over the past 24 months. Crawford, Sandoval and Perales all have their own health concerns too. Mullins could be 14th on the depth chart today, but 9th when it gets to the end of March TBH. He also has a higher ceiling than a guy like Uberstine IMO. I think the scouting reports on both of those guys are outdated.
  23. Sandlin may end up in the pen, but I don't think it's been decided yet. If Mullins is in the pen, it'd be used as a piggyback guy. I wouldn't put too much stock in what SP has listed as the '26 rosters right now. There will be trades and the Rule 5 draft.
  24. With the amount of injuries that every rotation is expected to have each season, I don't think it's very realistic for BOS to trade a young starter like Bello. Sox don't need to add a spot for a #2, they already lost a rotational piece in Giolito.
