  1. His fielding ability hasn’t been a particular standout strength. Didn't he win 3 gold glove equivalents at 1B/3B in the NPB?
  2. https://www.mlb.com/news/jorge-polanco-vesting-player-option-2026-season Essentially, Polanco -- who was limited mightily with a left knee injury during his first season in Seattle -- gained clarity on his outlook for 2026 and the financial security that now comes with it, if he indeed exercises the option. The Mariners also carry a $750,000 buyout on that option.
  3. Arenado was thought to be a mild bounceback candidate going into '25, but he kept sliding. Sox would be dumb to buy into him at this point. Exit velo, xWOBA, barrel %, hard hit % are all bottom 12th percentile. Back to back awful years from him. Not sure I'd trade Hicks for him straight up.
  4. Yup, that's why they extended Raffy.
  5. The real AAV is what counts against the CBT.
  6. Vlad costs 35M next year. Schwarbgman costs 85M. Not equivalent.
  7. These are all too high for me.
  8. Fans need to go back to bullying JH in public again.
  9. For what they bring in, it's not a drop it the bucket.
  10. Eaton's 2022 was very similar to his 2025. Wong should be better, but it's more likely his bat is like '23 than it is like '24. There was a whole article on here about how lucky his numbers were in '24 prior to this season. We saw the regression in '25.
  11. I'd rather have Eaton on the Bench than Wong as a third Catcher, yes.
  12. I think Suarez would do well at Fenway. I'm not entirely sold on him, but he's an option if they can't bring back Bregman on a 3 year deal.
  13. He's worse than Devers and he may end up with a bigger contract too.
  14. No, I'm not advocating for just signing guys to sign guys. They need to target guys that fit their needs via FA and trades. With the value of 1b being relatively low, it could be easier to just go out and acquire a 1b via trade. Or just sign Hoskins to a cheaper deal than Alonso. Sox needs: 1b, 2b, 3b, SP 1b Hoskins (1 year deal) 2b Mayer plus cheap 2b/SS acquisition to backup 3b Suarez (multi year deal, move to 1b in '27) SP Cease (looking for short term high AAV per reports) or Gallen
  15. Ohtani and Freeman have been good. Kershaw has stunk/been injured since Betts showed up.
  16. Have you seen the price of steak lately? I don't know how Betts even affords to live in LA on that salary.
  17. In AAA, it's whatever. I think notin was believing he'd be on the bench in BOS.
  18. If anyone is non-tendered it's Lowe. I think they try to offer him a 1/5M deal max.
  19. Aroldis Refsnyder Are you suggesting they punt until '27 since there aren't any pending FA's?
  20. It should be since his teammates are carrying him so much!!! 😎
  21. Dodgers were happy with his postseason performance in '20, '21 and '24. He had an 809 OPS through the end of the NLCS this year.
  22. Betts: 3/27 - 6/8 783 OPS 6/9 - 8/4 489 OPS 8/5 - 9/28 892 OPS I'll just overlook the bad two months and believe he's still got it.
  23. If he's brought in as the backup, he's fine. I don't want him as the third catcher/UTIL guy as notin suggested. I don't see the Sox making an effort in fixing the catcher position as they have a lot of work to do elsewhere.
  24. "Reset next year" meant '27 (go over two years, reset the third).
  25. Jays see 3.77 pitches per PA. Sox see a league Av 3.87. Ernie Clement 3.18! (42.7% 1st pitch swing, 85.5% contact) Free swinger Rafaela 3.61. (48.9% 1st pitch swing, 73.2% contact)
