  1. Not to worry, Maeda will help bump my ERA and WHIP up once he starts.
  2. It's as good of a reason as anything else. His performance has been good. If his velo has dropped, it's a reason he'd go from #1 with a bullet to #5-7.
  3. Once Mieses is promoted, you can give POR Tyreque Reed to fill the slugger role (rule 5 pick). 1.165 OPS, 5 HR for Greenville.
  4. Whitlock: 6.14 ERA over last 5 appearances, 7.1 IP, 12 H, 1 BB, 3 K, 3 HR Needs to get back to striking out guys.
  5. Former Red Sox prospect Khalil Lee.
  6. No, someone put him on the waivers back in April. I grabbed him then.
  7. Since some have suggested: "why don't they just put Mata on the 60 day IL?" @redsoxpayroll Also interesting to note here is that to put any minor league 40-man guy on the 60-day IL means: -Starting/continuing their service time clocks as it's MLB time -Paying them as big Leaguers
  8. Thank you to whoever put Corey Kluber on waivers. I appreciate it.
  9. 38% whiff on FB. 35% whiff on offspeed. 51% whiff on breaking balls. It doesn't matter how hard you hit it if you have that kind of hole in your swing.
  10. Cordero is hitting the ball hard, but his whiff rate is still really horrible.
  11. Moncada played much better in MiLB though. Lee doesn't have Moncada's upside. Someday he could be a viable MLBer. Today is not the day.
  12. Every team should try to improve themselves. When you have underperforming players, find someone who can replace them. It's not like Cordero is some sort of clubhouse glue guy. The "it's a first place team" argument is nonsense. They are a first place team in spite of some of their players.
  13. Gilberto Jimenez has hit safely in 12 of 13 games. I'd keep him in Salem so that he gets to the All Star game and then promote him to Greenville.
  14. Cam Cannon (aka baby Pedroia) is OPSing 1.060 in Greenville. Make room for him in Portland. Player of the Day: Cameron Cannon led the NCAA in doubles on his way to Boston making him the 43rd overall pick in the 2019 draft. He struggled in his professional debut, getting hurt after signing and then hitting just .205/.289/.335 in 170 with Lowell. The former Arizona Wildcat has turned things around in the early part of the season, delivering three hits for Greenville for his seventh multi-hit effort in 13 games. Cannon is 11 for 23 in his last five, bringing his season line to .347/.407/.653.
  15. Miese hit his 7th GD HR this year. Bring that to WOO after they promote Santana please.
  16. Time to bring Santana up. He's 9 for 20 at AAA. He looks to be ready. He's played all over the diamond.
  17. He is graded as a current 30 hit tool, 55 raw power, 55 speed, 45 field. The problem is that his current game power is 35. He's only played 6 games above AA and has never really hit for a high average. Maybe his power comes along and makes up for it? FWIW, ZiPS/Steamer had him only playing part of the year in MLB and performing pretty horribly.
  18. So then the only CF guy they have on the farm is Jimenez?
  19. Now if only German would pick up his end of the bargain too...
  20. Why do you think he's falling? He doesn't seem to be pitching worse? Is it just other players performing better?
  21. If you have a late 1st round pick, you should always go for the high upside guy. Sox took too many Deven Merrero's.
  22. Interesting points from latest SoxProspects podcast: Kaleb Ort has stuff that could push him into MLB pen this year. Marcus Wilson is less athletic than in 2019. Possibly LF only profile. Fringe bat speed. Worcester plays as a launching pad due to the setup behind homeplate. Some lazy popups have turned into HR’s, notably one of Wilson’s. May bump offensive numbers and pitcher ERA. I’ve also heard that defense across the board has been atrocious in MiLB and that pitchers’ numbers are looking way worse because of it.
