  1. I don't care much for Eovaldi.
  2. Sale's deal is fine. I think the bigger concern is Eovaldi's contract. Even a greatly diminished Sale should be able to be a #3 starter.
  3. @ChrisCotillo I expect the Red Sox to be involved with some relievers who are opting out of deals this week. Hector Rondon, Tommy Hunter and others among guys back on the FA market. Quote Tweet More work to be done, Chaim!
  4. That 2018 version of Beni was fun as hell. Can't believe his agent got him to throw it all away. Flew too close to the sun like Icarus.
  5. @SoxProspects Lineup vs. MIN: K. Hernández DH Duran CF (#SP60 no. 4) Renfroe RF Devers 3B Vázquez C Gonzalez LF Dalbec 1B (#SP60 no. 6) Arroyo SS Chavis 2B Pérez LHP Also pitching: Taylor, Barnes, D. Hernandez, McCarthy
  6. It was more Cora saying that he personally thought the best version of Benintendi was before he bulked up and that he'd "take the .400 on-base percentage, 40 doubles, 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases every year from Andrew Benintendi rather than the .260 with 30 home runs."
  7. There were no big SP deals this offseason, so it's hard to gauge what his market would be right now. 3/45? He's got a higher ceiling than that. My guess is he'd want to bet on himself and reach FA this offseason. Sox should hold onto him and deal him at the deadline.
  8. Interesting little article on Christian Arroyo: https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2021/03/christian-arroyos-career-renaissance-a-major-story-in-boston-red-sox-spring-training-the-light-goes-on-at-different-points-for-different-guys-in-their-careers.html In Bloom’s eyes, Arroyo’s impressive camp goes far beyond his .279/.326/.512 line and three homers. Bloom thinks Arroyo’s overall offensive game is stronger than it was at any point during the infielder’s time with the Rays. “I’ve seen him swinging the bat with more authority,” Bloom said. “Just driving the ball to all parts of the field and driving pitches I did not see him drive when he wore a Rays uniform, with any regularity. A lot of different things are giving us reasons for optimism.”
  9. Big News: @PeteAbe #RedSox giving Thaddeus Ward — it's no longer Thad we've been told — the start at Tampa Bay tomorrow with Nick Pivetta pitching the B game at Minnesota to avoid facing the Rays for a third time.
  10. https://www.mlb.com/press-release/dr-sheffields-named-official-toothpaste-of-the-red-sox DR. SHEFFIELD'S NAMED OFFICIAL TOOTHPASTE OF THE BOSTON RED SOX Two Iconic New England Brands Join Forces for a Winning Season New London, Connecticut-based Dr. Sheffield's Certified Natural Toothpaste has been named the “Official Toothpaste of the Boston Red Sox” for the 2021 baseball season, it was announced today. The Dr. Sheffield’s-Red Sox sponsorship package includes exclusive naming rights, fixed Fenway Park Center Field signage for the 2021 season, Home Plate signage for select home games, digital and email marketing, as well as in-stadium promotional and sampling opportunities (subject to current health and safety guidelines). “We can’t think of a more perfect fit for Dr. Sheffield’s than the Red Sox; two authentic New England brands that were firsts in their field,” said Jeffrey Davis, President & Chief Executive Officer at Sheffield Pharmaceuticals. “Dr. Sheffield’s is the originator of toothpaste and was the first to put it in a tube, and the Red Sox were one of the 8 original baseball teams in the American League. We look forward to pairing with this iconic brand this season to bring smiles to fans everywhere, ” Davis added. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Sheffield’s to the Red Sox family,” said Red Sox Executive Vice President Troup Parkinson. “We love to partner with New England brands who share our connection to the region and look forward to working with Dr. Sheffield’s throughout the 2021 season.” The full line of nine flavors of Dr. Sheffield’s Certified Natural Toothpastes are certified according to the strict standards of the Natural Products Association and contain no fluoride, GMOs, synthetic detergents or foaming agents, and no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners. Dr. Sheffield’s Naturals is also certified cruelty-free by Leaping Bunny, signifying no animal testing at any stage of product development. About Dr. Sheffield’s Certified Natural Toothpaste Dr. Sheffield’s Naturals is a new line of toothpaste made from an age-old recipe reminiscent of simpler times. In the mid-1870s, Dr. Washington W. Sheffield, a respected dentist from New London, Connecticut, invented a ‘creme dentrifice’ for his patients, replacing the unsavory powders of the time. He put it in a tube, and the rest is history. Over 160 years later, Sheffield is back and harsh synthetics are out. Sheffield’s timeless formulas are still free of fluoride, synthetic detergents and foaming agents, GMOs and artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners - and actually taste good! Dr. Sheffield’s Naturals can be found at CVS, Amazon.com, Rite Aid, Walgreens and Bed, Bath & Beyond stores throughout New England. 11. That theory had been floated on here.
  12. I’d be down for a zoom call while we draft even if not everyone is on.
  13. I'm glad we could help you with that.
  14. Red Sox vs. Orioles at 6:05 p.m. on NESN: K. Hernández 2B, Verdugo CF, Renfroe RF, Bogaerts SS, Devers 3B, Gonzalez 1B, Cordero LF, Chavis DH, Plawecki C Pitchers: Eovaldi, Sawamura, Ottavino, Taylor

  16. @JeffPassan MLB's attempts to crack down on foreign substances are outlined in a memo obtained by ESPN. Among the plans: - Increased monitoring by compliance officers - Inspections of baseballs taken out of play that will use a third-party lab to check for substances - Spin-rate analysis Compliance officers will monitor dugouts, clubhouses, tunnels, batting cages and bullpens. They will take a random sample of balls, and the lab will search not just for the substances themselves but the type being utilized. Statcast data will compare spin rate to career norms. The memo, first reported by @Joelsherman1, says: “Players are subject to discipline by the Commissioner’s Office for violating the Official Baseball Rules regardless of whether evidence of the violation has been discovered during or following a game.” How about cracking down on umps that can't call strikes? How about cracking down on a broken tv blackout system?
  17. Right now, he's on the 10 day IL.
  18. I will have snacks and bourbon at the ready.
  19. If I had to guess, the Sox would go with 14 pitchers including Brice and Brewer and the bench would include Arroyo and Gonzalez (add Chavis if Cordero is on IL).
  20. It's the same bench as they would have had back in the 25 man days when they'd go with 13 pitchers (which would happen most often at the start of the year). Sox have over and over stated this offseason that they grabbed Marwin and Kiké for their versatility and that they want to go with a 2 man bench.
  21. The math doesn't check out.
  22. Barnes will start the year. He could lose it by June.
