  1. It hurt in 2011 because expectations were high. It would hurt less this year. It's the difference between the Sox losing to the Yanks in 99 and the Sox losing to the Yanks in 03.
  2. Downs, Munoz, Santana and some guy named Jack Lopez.
  3. On no. He's the type of guy who could just be a monster in AAA.
  4. They have moved Santana all over the diamond. I think he's played 1b, 2b, 3b and LF.
  5. Right now he's a slap hitter with no power and only "above average" speed. That would definitely not play in MLB.
  6. Also, Mieses hit another bomb and needs to stop playing in AA now. He's not getting anything out of it. https://www.milb.com/player/johan-mieses-644407 Has 5 bombs so far.
  7. @IanCundall Noteworthy hitting performances from Red Sox prospects on 5/12: Triston Casas (AA): 4-6, 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI Jarren Duran (AAA): 1-4, BB Jeter Downs (AAA): 0-3, BB, K Gilberto Jimenez (A): 1-4, 2 K Nick Yorke (A): 1-4, PO Brandon Howlett (A+): 2-4, 2B, K OPS now up to 891 for Casas after starting off ice cold.
  8. I think Cordero could hit 400 in AAA.
  9. I think he's still about 1.5 - 2 years away though. He's 21 with 6 games above high A.
  10. I'm still at 86. If they end up with 88 and miss the WC, it'll be a successful season IMO.
  11. Wilson is ready to play. I just don't think he's that good.
  12. If the Sox go .500 the rest of the way, they'll end up with 84 wins which is about where we thought they'd be.
  13. Rosario has a higher ceiling so I wouldn't want to rush him.
  14. My wife is pepperoni and pineapple all day. I either go plain or black olive and jalapeño.
  15. What makes New Haven-style pizza distinct is its thin, oblong crust, characteristic charring, chewy texture, and limited use of melting cheeses. It tends to be drier and thinner than, but closely related to, traditional New York-style pizza. Both styles in turn are close descendants of the original Neapolitan style.
  16. Fantini’s 1,300 miles south.
  17. I agree. I think Franchy has been hitting into some loud outs lately. It was a massive struggle at one point, but it looks like there are signs he could pull out of it.
  18. Ok. Guess we gotta give Swihart another chance?
  19. Very SSS on Wilson. His current pace of 64 HRs is untenable.
  20. Also, they both lost considerable time early in their career due to injuries. Swihart may have had a higher ceiling. He just never got there. I don't think any scouts projected Vaz to hit the way he has the past few years. Vaz still wasn't hitting as recently as 2018...
  21. @alexspeier Cora on Santana in Worcester: ‘Because he’s there, it doesn’t mean that he’s that close to being here.’ Emphasizes that he needs reps to be ready.
  22. Ockimey had 898 OPS against RHP in 2019. Dalbec has a 872 OPS against LHP in 2021.
