  1. Also, aluminum bats now go for $400+. The cost savings just really isn't there anymore.
  2. With how much money the D1 schools have, switching to wood bats would be a drop in the bucket.
  3. I'm doing calculus trying to figure out what the sentence in bold means.
  4. Yes, it was clearly mid game.
  5. Damn. Just missed the all important QS by one out!
  6. Arroyo and Munoz have been hitting well in ST too. Not sure the "hot hand" in Spring Training necessarily carries over.
  7. https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2017/4/6/15186624/chris-sales-velocity-experiment-fastball-red-sox-mlb He has a history of not always throwing as hard as physically possible. Maybe we can't attribute the change in velo entirely due to health.
  8. Why sign Sale to that contract if he can’t pitch past July?
  9. Hope he turns it around. It’s the best thing for this team.
  10. Late season burnout caused him to pitch less than 20 innings the final two months?
  11. Pitched 17 regular season innings after 8/1/18. Pitched 15.3 in the postseason. ALDS Game 1: 5.1 innings, 93 pitches ALDS Game 4: 1 inning in relief (touted as "well, it was going to be his bullpen day anyway") ALCS Game 1: 4 innings, 86 pitches WS Game 1: 4 innings, 91 pitches WS Game 5: 1 inning in relief He was clearly not 100% that postseason.
  12. It's not versatility, just that they don't see him in LF the way some people on here do.
  13. @PeteAbe Garrett Richards working at a good tempo, pumping strikes. 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 60/30. Acuna got him but otherwise really sold. Two good outings in a row for Richards. Positive development for the rotation.
  14. It's pretty telling that the Sox have intentionally kept him away from OF this ST.
  15. Dreaming about that sweet QO pick!
  16. If Pivetta can pitch like 2018, he's ahead of Perez. Otherwise, he's back of the pack IMO.
  17. Training wheels better be off in 2023.
  18. Has Kiké played any CF this ST? Everytime I turn it on, Verdugo is there.
  19. Should have just got someone cheap on a 1 year deal. Duran or Cordero could have pushed that guy to the waiver wire. I don't understand that move.
  20. I have no confidence in Pivetta. Houck has the highest ceiling of the bunch, but I think is most likely to just be a bullpen arm at some point. I think Seabold could be a solid #4 in the rotation, but I don't think he'd ever peak much higher than that (probably has the highest floor of those 3 guys).
  21. Verdugo has a great bat, but he's just not a prototypical CFer. He doesn't look great out there. Should have left him in RF.
  22. What's your definition of "good offensively?" Also, moon did say "IF" Cordero comes through. He has the skillset to be an above average outfielder, he just hasn't stayed healthy. Verdugo should be one of the best OFers in the league as he was last year. Renfroe is just a platoon guy. That's about it. The team is really missing that 4th OFer that would be the everyday CFer while Verdugo is in RF and Cordero/Renfroe share LF.
  23. I just want Chaim to take the best available. If that's a HS SS, so be it.
  24. So the only people they could trade for is Cabrera or Davis per your post. May as well just waive JD if he's that bad. If he truly is a negative WAR player going forward, may as well call up Ockimey/Chavis/Gettys/whoever. Or is he decidedly better than the argument you made that he could be only traded for the two worst contracts in baseball? Would you trade him for Votto? Stanton? Heyward? McCutchen? Price? I'd say he could have more value than that. Maybe he still has enough perceived value that you could deal him for some salary relief?
