  1. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/matt-barnes/12863/splits?position=P&season=0 He is horrible in August for whatever reason. In September, he settles back in and pitches better.
  2. Greenwell: 1987 - 1990 872 OPS, 135 WRC+
  3. Drew: 2007 - 2010 853 OPS, 123 WRC+
  4. Trot: 2001 - 2004 884 OPS, 130 WRC+ I'd say that's pretty good.
  5. Mattingly 124 WRC+ Puckett 122 WRC+ Greenwell 120 WRC+ Puckett is overrated should not be a HOFer. JAWS has him similar to Johnny Damon.
  6. Mothers mold their children's minds. There are millions of moldy minded kids.
  7. It's been a quick adjustment to Double-A for Chris Murphy as the left-hander has an ERA of just 2.12 over 17 innings. He's struck out 21, walked five, and batters are hitting .183 against him. Now ranked 16th in the system, the 23-year-old has come a long way from where he was at the University of San Diego. In his college career, he walked 115 batters in 214 innings, but so far in 2021, he's walked less than three batters per nine innings. The Red Sox can't develop pitching.
  8. He is an all time record holder though: On September 2, 1996, Mike Greenwell of Boston had nine runs batted in during a ten inning game. This is the record for most runs batted in where one player accounted for ALL of a team's RBIs.
  9. The MVP guarantee is that there will never be a post using the term pollyanna that is not just meant to be a dumb joke.
  10. @IanCundall Noteworthy pitching performances from Red Sox prospects on 8/17: Chris Murphy (AA): 7 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 7 K Raynel Espinal (AAA): 7 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 6 K Wyatt Olds (FCL): 1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1K (debut) Christopher Troye (FCL) 1 IP, 2K (debut) Jacob Webb (FCL): 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 2K (debut) If the Red Sox actually learn to develop some starters...
  11. Oh, I got the sarcasm.
  12. They tore the Popeye's down so it has to be something else, right?
  13. https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/costacos-baseball-poster-mike-417762283 He did have one of the greatest posters though.
  14. He put the ball in play. 37% swung at the first pitch 88% contact 65 career strike outs looking (that's just endearing) Boggs: 8% first pitch 93% contact 221 career strike outs looking Bogaerts: 17% first pitch 79% contact 143 strike outs looking
  15. He was the proto dirt dog.
  16. Don't bag on Greenwell too much. Watch LF on this triple when Greenie hit for the cycle.
  17. @PeteAbe #RedSox bullpen had a 3.48 ERA with opponents hitting .236 through July 28. Since: 6.93 ERA with opponents hitting .300. Only the Pirates (6.95), Cubs (7.86) and Orioles (8.96) are higher. Not coming from behind AND losing the leads they do have. Bad combo.
  18. Greenwell's career 120 WRC+ is better than Xander and ties Raffy. He just played on some s***** teams and deserved better talent around him.
  19. I was young enough to enjoy the Gator experience. The stock car racing was cool, I guess. My dad always bagged on him for swinging on the first pitch and running into the monster. He was the only good positional player that came close to bridging the Rice/Boggs/Clemens/Evans years to the Pedro/Papi/Manny ones.
  20. The pollyanna to shitposter after one doubleheader timeline.
  21. Boston has an easy remaining schedule, but they aren't helping themselves right now.
  22. Then it just goes by how MOON personally feels about a player.
