  1. I'm going to disagree about Sale's command right now. Eovaldi's seems to be better than Sale's right now.
  2. Top 4 teams in the AL East: 365 Wins Top 4 teams in the AL West: 341 Wins If the Rangers had 7 more losses to equal the O's, the AL West would still only have at most 348 wins. Seems like the Jays/Sox/Yanks/Rays are just good this year?
  3. Rangers have only 7 more wins than the O's. Divide those wins by the top 4 teams and the difference isn't material.
  4. The only thing really arbitrary in baseball is Angel Hernandez' strike zone. Good thing he's working the Guardians/Royals series instead of something that matters.
  5. It's only fair that Boone becomes despised in NY too.
  6. Small sample but... 2008 - 2017: zero years where two 100 game winners were in the same division. Seems like maybe not half? C'mon man.
  7. @Swydan Fun fact: If the Red Sox win one more game and the Blue Jays win two more games, the AL East will become the first division in the Wild Card Era to have four 90-win teams. Most divisions have had 3 in one season or another, but no one has had 4. "Ah, you see, but the AL West is better because..."
  8. The divisions aren't arbitrary. They're geographic. Is it often that there are two 100 game winners in the same division?
  9. And it seems like it won't happen this year either. The 5 best records from both leagues will either get a playoff birth or a WC game. Seems ok?
  10. Interesting that the NL West Braves are in the playoffs, but the Los Angeles Dodgers have to play the WC game with a better record. What a world!
  11. Yes, I'd rather have the #1 spot and a game at home than the #2 spot and a game on the road.
  12. Problem with the double header is that it would really f*** up the winner's rotation for the ALDS unless you are adding additional days off.
  13. You would rather: 3 division winners plus 2 best nondivision winner records, but the two worst records of those teams are forced to play the WC game?
  14. @SoxProspects Raynel Espinal pitched a gem in his final start of the season last night with a line of 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. The 29-year-old righty ends the season with an 11-4 record as well as a 3.44 ERA, .202 OBA, 1.10 WHIP, and 115 strikeouts over 117.2 IP.
  15. @SoxProspects Ronaldo Hernández went 2-for-4 in last night's 2-1 Worcester victory. The 23-year-old catcher has slashed .444/.500/.556 over 20 PA since his late-season promotion to Triple-A. Another guy who started the season off really slow. If he can hit well at AAA, he'd be a good backup/role player here. His defense is still behind.
  16. Need the Sox to win out and the Yanks to lose one.
  17. The divisions are there to keep up fan interest throughout August and September. If we went back to 2 leagues with no divisions, most teams would be out of it at the deadline. Attendance would go down. Ratings would go down. No way do owners get rid of the divisions. As for the WC, I'm fine with it. The rule is that you need to win the division. If you don't win the division, you have to play in the WC game. This also allows for 3 teams in the same division the ability to win a playoff spot, which seems more than fair.
  18. If "if" and "buts" were candy and nuts, your posts would be better.
  19. @IanMBrowne Bogaerts stung the ball in his first at-bat, but he is hitless in his last eight at-bats. He is 1 for his last 18. Choker.
  20. Renfroe and Xander are chokers.
  21. @OverTheMonster Eovaldi has three whiffs on 59 pitches last time out. He's got seven on 25 tonight
  22. Seems like Eovaldi came to play.
  23. Wow, a solo jack. Who woulda thunk it?
  24. Can't believe Cora is throwing in the towel on the season!!!
