  1. And he knew we'd luck into getting the best prospect in the draft. A veritable coup for a team on it's way to the ALCS.
  2. Let the human ump have umpire discretion for obvious blown calls.
  3. Well, he's "good" but not "great" yet.
  4. It's a hole that Bloom didn't address then? In fact, he PUT WEBER IN A STARTING PITCHING ROLE.
  5. Renfroe has come up in some big spots and has not delivered. Arroyo has been barely adequate. At least he's made some good defensive plays. Dalbec should have been given some more AB's. Not starting him against LHP is weird IMO.
  6. Baseball is probably not as big of a deal in HS's across the country at the moment.
  7. Sox are at the lux tax line and made it to the ALCS. Seems like he's a good big market GM.
  8. Vaz - C 1b - ? 2b - ? SS - X 3B - Devers RF - Betts CF - JBJ LF - Beni DH - JD Bench - Chavis SP1 - Sale SP2 - Eovaldi SP3 - Price SP4 - ERod SP5 - ? CL - Workman RP - Barnes RP - Brasier RP - Taylor RP - Hembree RP - DHern RP - Weber That's 19 roster spots taken up by "DD" guys. Are you referring to 15 openings on the 40 man?
  9. @SoxProspects Jeter Downs went 2-for-4 with a home run (3) and a walk in yesterday's 11-9 Scottsdale Scorpions loss. The 23-year-old shortstop has gotten off to a hot start in the AFL slashing .357/.550/1.000 over 20 PA. He's homered in three consecutive games. It was nice to hear that Jeter really wanted to go to the AFL. It's even nicer to see the results. Fingers crossed for 2022.
  10. My current wants for 2022: Renfroe/Verdugo platoon in RF Baez for 2b Stroman Re-sign Schwarber
  11. And happy anniversary to Carlton Fisk's Game 6 HR, an event I wasn't yet alive for.
  12. Nice to see glimpses of vintage Sale as well. It wasn't the overall result we wanted, but I can see a path going forward.
  13. And if the Sox are just going to lose, might as well do it earlier in the day and not have everyone ruin their sleep for it.
  14. Changing the umpires doesn't change the game at all. Shifts, launch angles, openers play a much bigger role in how the game looks. Changing to an automatic k zone would be unnoticeable after the first week.
  15. I don't believe they are waiting on 2025. I believe they are waiting on 2022/2023.
  16. Cashman is a good company man. Hal cares about the company. He doesn't seem to really care about winning titles. Sometimes you have to shake things up even if you think the person in the position is good enough.
  17. He's stuck around for a lot longer than 98% of the posters on here. I believe his was also kicked off a Yankees forum for being too negative about the Yankees. It's annoying that he likes a really dumb team, but I don't think he's necessarily malicious. He does provided valuable insight from time to time. If people are really bothered by him they are always free to use the "ignore" feature.
  18. I think Folty is a unique case. He really only had one good season. His whiff rate percentile dropped to bottom 3%! His FB spin rate was 70% percentile in 2018, but dropped to 25% this season. If everyone else dropped at a similar rate, he'd still be closer to 70th percentile. It's the percentile drop that stands out. Maybe he was using spider tack in 2018. Why did he drop off in 2019? Did he stop using it then? When you look at statcast, he's a well below average pitcher for every season but 2018. Sometimes guys just have one good season and disappear. I think that's what happened to Folty. I'm not sure I'd even want him wasting a AAA spot.
  19. I was hopeful yesterday afternoon that the 2021 Sox had a few more wins left in them. Maybe they still do? Regardless, this season has been the most enjoyably frustrating team in recent memory. It made up for 2020 IMO and showed us there is a little hope for the future.
  20. They could just make it a reviewable play.
  21. I am very far out on Ottavino. Maybe I just end up missing his good appearances?
  22. @PeteAbe Today would be Xander Bogaerts' 43rd playoff game, tying him with Manny Ramirez for 4th in Red Sox history. Only Ortiz (76), Varitek (63) and Pedroia (51) would have more.
  23. I trust this bullpen more than I trust my kids to brush their teeth.
  24. With the k zone overlay, the complaints about umpiring is at an all time high.
