  1. Unfortunately, they had the idiotic "don't sign old pitchers" rule at the time.
  2. I'm not sure Casas has maximized his potential trade value yet. I don't think Bloom would dump him this early.
  3. I disagree with Castillo. They signed Castillo to make up for them not signing Abreu the previous offseason. Hanley > Castillo > Panda
  4. Spoiled Yankees? There are miserable Yankees fans in college right now who only saw 1 championship back when they were in elementary school. It's a franchise on the ropes and taking body blows. I agree with jacko, George wouldn't have let this drag on.
  5. And it's not like there was an opening at DH they needed to fill.
  6. Well, yeah. I like notin's idea of looking into some younger arms though.
  7. I usually don't make a big generalization on how the season is going until Memorial Day. Think of all the times Ortiz started off slow and then mashed.
  8. He is the type of guy who could just figure it out and go on a run, but he's not setting up the Sox to succeed right now. Dodgers offense is RH heavy, so I'm not sure he's a good play against them.
  9. The day the Sox signed Pablo and Hanley was a very confusing time on here. Nobody quite knew what the plan was for those two. We never really found out either. Should have just signed Hanley and left Pablo alone.
  10. Sox should go for high upside guys. With the Sox current roster construction, they need guys that can throw lots of k's. Greinke is basically a ground ball pitcher who would have a good FIP here, but his ERA would suffer with the cement shoes in the IF.
  11. *praise hands emoji*
  12. Most obscure guy to win a WS ring with the Sox? Earl Snyder: 1 G, 4 PA, 0 H, 1K, 0 BB, -0.1 fWAR, he did make 3 assists and 2 putouts in his one game at 3b. He hit 58 bombs for the PAWSOX in 03-04.
  13. I'm happy with Schwarber's career 148 OPS+ at Fenway.
  14. Even if he pitched just ok, it is a smart move. He either takes it and stays another year or the Sox can go out and grab another QO guy without losing a pick.
  15. @Yankees The New York Yankees announced today that they have re-signed Manager Aaron Boone to a three-year contract through the 2024 season with a club option for 2025. Good move IMO!
  16. He deserves it IMO.
  17. Why trade Dalbec? I don't think he has a high trade value. He's cheap, so I'd rather keep him as a bench option and see if he can fill in at a few positions.
  18. I'm not sure the Sox should be collecting 38 year old starters.
  19. Still seems like 1 "off" year.
  20. Even years: 2014: 3.4 fWAR 2016: 3.3 fWAR 2018: 1.4 fWAR (worst season for sure) 2020: COVID 14 and 16 seem ok to me.
  21. Best WS Subplots: Dodgers VS Red Sox (Betts return to BOS, Kiké and Verdugo return to LAD) Dodgers VS Astros (Dodgers face off against WS rival that cheated them) Braves VS Red Sox (Interleague Rivalry, digging up some old fans who remember seeing the Braves in Boston) Braves VS Astros (2005 NLDS revenge??? IDK)
  22. Settled? I think it makes sense to take the first QO and then go to FA the following offseason. 1. He sat out 2020 so there was question about how well he'd perform. 2. If you have a QO attached to you, less teams are likely to bid on you. 3. He was given 18.9M for one year which almost doubled his career earnings. 4. Now he can go into FA after pitching a full season and not having a QO attached to him. Seems like a good idea to me!
  23. I'd go 5. I wouldn't go 7.
  24. Jansen 547 OPS vs LHB. Graterol 967 OPS vs LHB.
