  1. The curse of Jay Buhner. If he's not on the roster, you can't make the postseason. In looking at his fangraphs page, I'm surprised he was never a 4 fWAR player. Must have been a horrible fielder. 2001 roster also included Norm Charlton, who I believe was the last of the Reds' Nasty Boys to retire.
  2. He was NOT deserving of that ring.
  3. Peak Nomar was great. It's just a shame how it ended here.
  4. In 2021, the Mariners pen was 5th in WHIP in MLB. Where will they wind up this season?
  5. Getting drunk and jumping off from the top of port o' pottys?
  6. Yeah, they should have signed Hendriks. That would have been good. Does that help them beat the Astros? IDK.
  7. The one true sport.
  8. Would I enjoy sports more if they took a break to have a meal? I don't know.
  9. The final 2 minutes of any basketball game is a miserable tv watching experience.
  10. That doesn't irk me at all. They still massively underpaid him for his first 6 seasons. He deserved to get paid. He made more money for the Sox than he made off of them.
  11. Post-Pedro: Lester compiled the best career with BOS. Sale had the best peak. Sounds fine to me. With 2 great seasons, Sale would leap past Lester.
  12. fWAR as a BOS starter: Lester 27.9 Beckett 20.4 Sale 18.2 (more years to come) ERod 14.6 Buchholz 14.3 Price 10.6 3 best seasons fWAR: Sale 17.4 Lester 14.6 Beckett 14.2 So the question is what the definition of "best" is. If it's most production overall, it would be Lester. If it's best peak production, it would be Sale.
  13. Yes, we need to have this discussion again.
  14. If they liked the game, you'd see tons of commercials with Tatis, Acuna, Trout, Ohtani, etc.
  15. @alexspeier Random Lester fact that he noted yesterday: He made a road appearance against 29 teams. The only place he never pitched as a visitor? Fenway - the one where he pitched more times (115) than in any other place in his career.
  16. @alexspeier As @JesseRogersESPN reported, former Red Sox ace Jon Lester is retiring after 16 seasons.
  17. @JeffPassan Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association plan to hold a bargaining session Thursday, sources tell ESPN. MLB is expected to make a core-economics proposal at the session, which would be the first between the sides since the league locked out the players on Dec. 2.
  18. Uh, no. Watch the Kentucky Derby on NBC and report back how much actual air time is spent during the race vs before and after.
  19. That's not what an anagram is??????????
  20. This says more about the Mariners than it does about MLS vs MLB. Terrible self own here.
  21. It's a different conversation.
  22. College football during the commercials can be fun live. Atmosphere is way better than a baseball game. If you cut baseball down to time when a ball is in play, it'd be shorter than a football game.
