  1. One day later, Garcia's knee was perfectly fine during practice. Interesting. We'll see how his knee holds up the next outing. Probably won't act up if his team is leading.
  2. Get Werner out of that room ASAP.
  3. Whiff % and k rate are two completely different things. You can get a whiff on a 3-0 count. You brought up K rate.
  4. I'm not worried about next year right now. I'm sure he'll work his ass off this offseason to fix whatever's going wrong. I know he's really a workout warrior and he's not just going to cash a paycheck. He may have to reinvent himself at some point though. I was looking through his statcast and it shows him throwing a sinker more often when he was younger. Was it really a sinker or was he just getting more movement on his 4 seamer then? Is it a pitch he needs to bring back?
  5. They won their division, so they were a presumptive favorite.
  6. His last 3 starts: 6 innings, 37%K rate, 3.00 WHIP. Anything pop out to you?
  7. His final start of the regular season, he had a 27 k/9. Does that mean it was a good start? It ignores his 3.00 WHIP. He's striking out guys, but it's ugly. It's the definition of smoke and mirrors.
  8. What does this have to do with me saying "smoke and mirrors"? Obviously I'm saying that his results were clearly going to come back to earth. In his last 3 outings, he went a combined 6 innings. Do you think that's good? I've watched all of his starts and there's been a white knuckle feel to a lot of them, especially lately. He might get a few k's, but it's ugly. It's not vintage Sale.
  9. Even if we win it all, shouldn't we try to extend the window we have with the Devers/JD/Xander/Eovaldi/Sale core group by going over?
  10. The game really changed in the 90's with all the iso ********. Teams stopped running up and down the court. The action really slowed down. Getting through the last two minutes of a game can be excruciating with all of the fouls. Basketball is most fun when there is lots of ball movement and teams are working the whole length of the floor. For a game that has the ability to be so fast paced, it can crawl like a turtle for lengthy stretches. It's the difference between wide open hockey and those 90's NJ Devils teams. Yuck. I watched a ton of basketball up until about 10 years ago. At some point, the downsides of excessive ticky tack foul calls and everyone trying to be like Mike just wore on me as a fan. Jordan was the greatest basketball player of all time. Guys like Kobe were just dollar store versions. I've tried to get into the younger C's team, but the game just isn't for me. At one point, I would have ranked it Sox > C's > Pats > Bruins, but now I'm a Sox > Bruins > Pats > C's. Maybe the C's and Bruins just flip flopped positions because they play over the same stretch of time and are basically competing for viewership.
  11. You counted wrong. 23 TBF in the playoffs, 57 TBF in last 3 regular season starts. His k% was 36.8%.
  12. No, I expected him not to be an ace off the bat. That doesn't contradict me saying that his regular season #'s were smoke and mirrors. His last 3 outings have been very concerning though.
  13. It seems that way more so in the NL. NL WC teams: 97 Marlins (won WS) 00 Mets (lost WS) 02 Giants (lost WS) 03 Marlins (won WS) 05 Astros (lost WS) 07 Rockies (lost WS) 11 Cardinals (won WS) 14 Giants (won WS) 19 Nats (won WS) Only 4 AL WC teams made the WS, 2 of which won (02 Angels and 04 Sox).
  14. How much do you think Baez will be? Why do you think ownership will try to stay under the cap?
  15. Weird bullpen bump out in RCF. LF is probably the biggest mess in MLB. Short porch bump out with a medium sized wall, abruptly angles back in LCF which still has some weird pillars to deal with. Modern facilities should just not be quirky like this.
  16. His K% is down, which is a better number than k/9. K% is based on total batters faced. In the postseason, he has a 17.4% k rate. Don't think I'm going to rely on his K% against WSH/BAL/NYM at all. Even adding those teams in, 25 K's over 80 batters is still a lower K% than the regular season of 2017, 2018 and 2019.
  17. I think Baez will be considerably cheaper than Semien. You could still fit Iggy in there.
  18. He can fix it by being mentored by Eovaldi.
  19. wOBA 1 TOR 2 HOU 3 BOS 4 SFG 5 CHW
  20. ISO: 1 TOR 2 ATL 3 SFG 4 BOS 5 TBR 6 LAD Those are six pretty good teams.
  21. IDK, Houston is a pretty weird ballpark.
  22. It just really shows the value of Alex Cora. The game speed up, but he's ready for it.
  23. With his changeup: 3K/1BB/2HR. Whiff% is way down. His slider now has -1.9 vertical movement vs an average slider it used to be +3 at least. Whiff % is way down. His fastball still has decent life, it's just he doesn't have the offspeed stuff to compliment it.
  24. Semien has a sprint speed of 28.6. The only Sox player faster than that is Duran.
