  1. Henderson was in the starting lineup. What does that have to do with the bench?
  2. He wasn't truly benched until the injury in Game 5 of the ALCS.
  3. Lyons was traded for Seaver midseason. Armas sucked in 1986 and didn't start one game in the WS due to injury.
  4. That bench of Romero, Stapleton, Sullivan, Hoffman and Armas was pathetic.
  5. Combs' #1 was retired... for Billy Martin.
  6. Home/Away WRC+ 2006 104/131 2007 103/98 2008 129/122 2009 135/109 (new Yankee Stadium) If you look at the entire stretch, I'm not sure playing in NY made a big difference. He had a career 93+ at old Yankee Stadium vs 106 at Kauffman, 109 at Fenway and 119 at Comerica.
  7. His defense wasn't even THAT good. Waste of a roster spot. 100%.
  8. Stapleton was a waste of a roster spot. 39 Games (29 Games at 1b) 42 PA's -17 WRC+ -0.7 fWAR
  9. Damon fWAR: 2006 3.6 2007 2.4 2008 3.8 2009 3.6 Total 13.4 BOS CF fWAR: 2006 0.7 2007 5.6 2008 5.9 2009 2.3 Total 14.5 The initial returns were not ideal. It's easier to ignore 2006 knowing what we know now.
  10. Casas at 16? Fangraphs must not ding him for playing 1b the way other lists do.
  11. So that's why Buckner let it go through his legs... his palms were greasy.
  12. You get 10% off ONE purchase in the online team store. 10% off all purchases at the team store on Jersey St.
  13. Gas prices have been higher in my lifetime and often fluctuate. Ticket cost for professional sports have never been higher and I don't think they are going to decrease any time soon.
  14. OLD RED is mad at the capitalist pigs, comrade.
  15. The bloom was off the rose long before he left Boston.
  16. It's hard not to get trampled under the boots of Henry's shock troopers.
  17. Patriots 2006: 90.89 Patriots 2021: 131.45 Patriots increase: 45% increase Red Sox 2006: 46.46 Red Sox 2021: 98 Red Sox increase: 110% Celtics 2006: 57.04 Celtics 2021: 93 Celtics increase: 63% Bruins 2006: 56.44 Bruins 2021: 120 Bruins increase: 112%
  18. Ramiro Mendoza in a Sox uni was worse.
  19. Not heard anything about it. I would try emailing them directly at the contact info noted at the bottom of the page.
  20. It'd be the same argument for Ellsbury to have his number retired in BOS. Doesn't make much sense to me. If you want a low bar for Yankees numbers to be retired, I don't have a problem with it. I just don't see O'Neill as a Yankee legend.
  21. John Valentin had a greater fWAR with the Sox in less games than O'Neil did with the Yankees. I don't see the Sox retiring Valentin's number anytime soon.
  22. The second the deal is signed, there will be a flurry of moves. Owners aren't crying poor here. They are just putting out a narrative that the players aren't bargaining in good faith and need to make greater concessions.
