  1. What year was it when you started to phase out? I believe they had instant replay back in the 80's then went away from it and then went back to it.
  2. Pitching is always at a premium. I think we'll see a lot of pitchers get more money than we expected, including ERod.
  3. Yes, Frank Viola was thrown out of a game for arguing balls and strikes against the computer.
  4. I think they are close enough where it's more of a personal preference.
  5. Keith Law on @STR0: "I think he’s the best bet among free-agent starters this year, with a combination of upside and floor that puts him ahead of anyone else on the list."
  6. Yeah, we do because robo umps are being used in some MiLB games.
  7. I'm sure A700 noticed.
  8. His previous 3/43M contract wasn't ideal. 2/12? Maybe? Seems high?
  9. If he's a #5.
  10. He's a very, very good hitter.
  11. I would never do that.
  12. Wow. I had never looked at Castellanos' defensive stats before. Peeyew.
  13. Stroman: 5 years above 3 fWAR ERod: 2 years above 3 fWAR
  14. Last 4 years: ERod 11.6 fWAR Stroman 12.1 fWAR
  15. If his offer is for 6 years, CLEARLY IT'S LESS OF A VALUE.
  16. If they pay Marte like a 3 fWAR guy, I'm ok with it. Renfroe is below that level.
  17. Honestly, instant replay is more disruptive than an automated strike zone.
  18. I would need to see clear wording on how the rule would be written. Otherwise, it seems like the greyest of all rules to enforce.
  19. The only reason the Sox may stay away from Stroman is that they would prefer high K guys rather than pitching to contact guys. Thanks IF defense.
  20. I'm going based on those values. If we're going to assume different numbers, then the whole conversation is pointless.
  21. Stroman is a much more reliable pitcher than Rodon. Rodon has only thrown over 140 innings once in his career. He was lights out this year, but hadn't had a good season since 2016.
  22. Brewers outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. will be exercising his $9.5MM player option to remain in Milwaukee for the 2022 season, according to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman (via Twitter). Bradley would have received a $6.5MM buyout had he chosen to decline the option and re-enter the free agent market. Bradley and the Brewers share a $12MM mutual option for the 2023 season that contains an $8MM buyout. Really glad the Sox didn't sign JBJ to this deal. He was basically guaranteed $17.5M for 22-23 Woof.
  23. Calhoun is interesting, but can't stay on the field. A guy like that could be a buy low candidate.
