  1. I'm fine with an expanded roster to 30. Just limit that total amount of pitchers that can go or the amount of pitchers that can be used per 9 inning game.
  2. If they are replacing Xander/Betts with Soto, ok. They still have to keep Raffy though.
  3. Maybe not for 2023, but one of those is probably in his future. Casas 1B Story 2B Mayer SS Devers 3B Bleis RF Rafaela CF Xander LF
  4. Untrue. Take JD and Eovaldi's money and split it between Xander and Raffy. It's not hard math.
  5. JD and Eovaldi coming off the books also allows for Raffy extension. Bogey would only be getting a 5-10M raise. The rest goes to Raffy. Nate can be replaced in house. JD can be replaced by a much cheaper bat as his DH-only contract was ridiculously inflated. Guys like Cron/Mancini make 7AAV and actually play a position. JD makes 3 times that much and sits on the bench for half the game. It doesn't make sense to spend 20M on a DH anymore.
  6. In retrospect, I'm glad he came to the Sox. It was nice to see the FO get depantsed like that with: 1. dumb panda hats 2. a broken belt buckle 3. a player that had previous weight/health concerns that were already blasted to the media 4. "a proven postseason performer"
  7. Reading is hard for NY fans.
  8. Yeah, because HE CAN STILL AFFORD XANDER. JD AND EOVALDI ARE COMING OFF THE BOOKS.
  9. IDK, the highlight of Roman hitting a 450' bomb in Coors with a wood bat got me pretty excited. Helped that he also signed almost immediately.
  10. Some of you have proposed MORE doubleheaders.
  11. This is getting out of hand! Now there are two of them!?!
  12. Even when you are drafting in the top 5, it's still a crap shoot. Even the best talents don't always develop in the way that you hope.
  13. I just feel like our farm system is in much better shape the past two years than it was previously. There will always be swing and misses. (Maybe Yorke doesn't turn it around.) I'm not going to get too hot and bothered over the draft because these guys have actually seen the players they drafted.
  14. I think people like Rafaela. Scouts just see a much higher ceiling in Bleis. If he gets promoted to Salem soonish and hits well through the end of the year, I think the national rankings will start to take more notice. There's a lot of groundswell for Bleis being a top prospect, whereas Rafaela is just outhitting his projections right now. Time will tell if Rafaela can keep it up.
  15. "Deserves" as is looking as his age (24) and the current AAV of superstars. A 13 year contract gets him to age 37/38, not into his 40's. Seems ok? An AAV in the low 30's seems like FMV.
  16. We thought that last winter tho? It's the never ending wait until next year rope-a-dope.
  17. Also: Conforto will look to sign a contract after the 2022 MLB Draft and could potentially return as a hitter in September if he can get ahead in his shoulder rehab, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports Why bother signing Conforto? It doesn't make any sense.
  18. What is a "Bloom guy?" Drury has had a bounce back year, but has sucked whenever he's had to play in a big market and can't play in TOR. Pass. Conforto hasn't taken one swing in anger this season and can't play in TOR. Pass. Are you trying to corner the market on white guys that can't play in TOR?
  19. @redsoxstats Some of the stuff being said about Miguel Bleis is so audacious, and whispers about his trackman data being so good, that I don't think I've ever been more excited for in-depth post-season reports on a prospect from @soxprospects and the national outlets. Bleis top 3 prospect when?
  20. I think you can teach power. I don't think you can teach contact skills. I think would agree with the Sox theory then.
  21. The questions is: when will the spigot be turned on again?
  22. I think it's fair to see that as what he deserves to be paid, but not what you want your team to shell out.
  23. "Depth" has been an ongoing talking point for Bloom. It's not that way with most GM's.
  24. For Vogelbach, they'd have to shell out higher tier talent like Cellucci to get it done. He is pretty terrible at 1b though.
