  1. Now there is a true piece of s***.
  2. He doesn't need to be around for a long time. He's 34. He's a stop gap. He was traded for a PTBNL or cash.
  3. It was too little, too late and kinda underwhelming, but there's a half day to go... We'll see what it looks like tonight. If this is all it is, I'd rank it a C+ for now. I wish they traded all their expiring contracts, but there was no way that was ever going to happen. Henry wasn't going to allow it.
  4. I'm sorry you went through this. I know several people close to me that went through similar things. What McGuire did was purely to himself and nobody else saw except for the police officer. He f***ed up and it will follow him forever.
  5. Then you'd make a horrible GM and I'm glad you're not making trades.
  6. The problem is that RSN includes people that sit in the cheap seats, the expensive seats, post on sites like this, call into sports radio, sit at home and watch casually or even obsessively. The grades would be all over the place. It's not what is just on here. It's not what is just on sports radio. Most Red Sox fans are waking up today not even knowing Reese McGuire is on the Sox.
  7. Maybe trading Vazquez wasn't giving up? They have control over McGuire for 2023, which they didn't have for Vazquez. He's a solid defensive C. His bat is whatever. He's better than Plawecki. He's better than any in house option they had and they can still bring Vaz back in the offseason if they want.
  8. To save money.
  9. The plan included Arroyo as a platton RHB though? Yuck!
  10. The only time I saw them live that season was in OAK. Didn't get to Fenway that year. Nomar only playing 21 games helped tune people out.
  11. I'm surprised Jay Groome's dad didn't make an appearance.
  12. Google "Luke Voit Tommy Pham." Pham's first issue wasn't Joc. People have always gotten uppity over him.
  13. Wasn't 2001 the s***** unlikeable Red Sox team that everyone hated?
  14. He should have fixed it in the offseason, yes. However, he found a guy now. Why bitch about the move today? Why not say, ok let's see what happens? I have agreed all along that the OF plan sucked. I agreed that it sucked in 2021. I agreed that the bullpen plan sucked in the offseason. Bloom can be criticized for it. However, criticizing him AFTER the trades that you've called for seems weird AF.
  15. Are these the goalposts we keep hearing about?
  16. No, not THAT one!
  17. Maybe it's just for a platoon since he's RHB. wRC+ vs LHP 131
  18. Vaz is fine. He was a decent catcher with some highlight moments, but ultimately he's replaceable. Let's not pretend they just traded Varitek in 2003. It's up to Bloom to find the replacement.
  19. People complain over and over again that baseball players are too chummy and they hate it when players yuck it up on the field. However, when you have a guy like Pham who actively says he'll fight the other team, the same people get pissed off about it. You can't eat the whole cake and then be pissed off that the cake isn't sitting on the counter later on.
  20. Aside from the arrest, have there been other issues with McGuire? Is he a bad teammate? I've never even heard of the guy until last night.
  21. Tell me you don't actually know what you're talking about without telling me you don't actually know what you're talking about.
  22. But having a strong performance did help improve his trade stock after some of his recent groaners.
  23. I mean, they didn't go all in last year. They just obtained Schwarber and Robles/Davis. We wanted more. Many people wanted them to either be all in on a sale or a buy this year, but they seemed to again just kinda toe the line which was the ever present third option.
  24. It's so you don't have to play Jaylin Davis and he was acquired for a PTBNL AND you spent all of the past few days bitching about the Sox not having OFers. Now he gets and OFer and you still complain? Seems like it doesn't matter whether or not he does make a move?
  25. Vazquez is leaving at the end of the year. If they want to bring him back, they can just re-sign him. Valdez is 23 and in AAA with an OPS of 907. He is 13 months older than Casas, not some washed up retread. Abreu is 23 and in AA and is the lesser prospect, but fills an organizational hole at OF. What 25 year old in AA are we talking about? "It's not about the prospects it's about dealing your #1 C at cheap money." Yeah, that's why you can deal him at the deadline. If he wasn't a #1, nobody would want him. If he was expensive, nobody would want him. He has value because he's cheap and pretty good. You complain about Bloom NOT making changes, but then complain when he does make changes. It makes no sense.
