  1. I liked the Phillies fine enough when I was younger. Mike Schmidt was a great player. My joke was obvious enough. I hope the Astros end up being the modern version of the 90's Braves.
  2. Too skinny for me.
  3. It depends on how much you value that defense in RF in Fenway. Maybe the Sox have a higher priority for defense and have an adjusted WAR calculation of their own like rWAR? Why always rely on someone else's metrics when you can develop your own? Maybe they give higher weight to defense? IDK.
  4. I'm not on his Only Fans.
  5. I don't know this story. It was alluded to yesterday as well.
  6. They need him to be healthy. Will he be? No, of course not.
  7. At that point, maybe they even just sign a guy really cheap like Simmons and hope for a bounce back year. If it doesn't work out, find someone cheap to trade for in season.
  8. MLB has its own history. When did free agency start? There were "free agents" as far back as 1931. Browns owner Phil Ball filed a lawsuit against Commissioner Kennesaw Landis that year, seeking a restraining order when Landis granted free agency to a number of Ball's players based on minor league farm system contract violations.
  9. Saying that there are no rules would be a rule.
  10. Oh yeah, well who did the 75/76 Reds sign then? Are these the arguments we have to have when the Red Sox suck and the WS is rained out?
  11. Devers at 28.5 AAV and Judge at 31 AAV? Sign BOTH! That's close to what some people assumed it would take to sign Devers and Bogey.
  12. Devers age 25: 140 wRC+, 4.9 fWAR Judge age 25: 174 wRC+, 8.7 fWAR Judge is a better hitter. He k's a lot, but has a better OBP than Devers due to his bb rate. Judge is a better fielder. While some consider Judge a health risk, Devers did miss some time this season with an issue and we don't know how his body will continue to age. In this scenario, I still take Judge as it may even be a better contract as it reduces the AAV.
  13. Judge
  14. Tino Boggs O'Neill The entire 96 rotation except for Pettitte Wetteland Wells El Duque Nelson Strawberry Sierra
  15. Fine with me.
  16. Jim Breuer called in to one of the talk shows to claim that ownership intentionally hired Valentine to blow up the team and dump some of the larger contracts. His was hired to be a chaos agent.
  17. 1. There were no issues with Tito unless you are going to believe the Weekly World News stories ownership put out to throw Tito under the bus. 2. Rudderless? They weren't rudderless. They just had no healthy starting pitchers. They were starting Andrew Miller, Erik Bedard, Tim Wakefield's corpse and Kyle Weiland. 3. The team was righted when they changed the culture and brought in Gomes, Napoli and Victorino. The team got better when the starting pitching got healthy and productive.
  18. @OverTheMonster Germán Márquez is a good pitcher trapped in pitcher hell (aka Coors Field). And he’s someone the Red Sox should target this offseason. Career Splits Away: 3.77 ERA 703 OPSa WHIP 1.18 BABIP 286 xFIP 3.29 Decent FB, high spin CB... After leaving Coors, Gray had a decent year with Texas aside from missing time due to injury. Marquez could be a decent cheaper option. He's under 30 too.
  19. They made Tito out to be the problem, but the team imploded after he left. With how he's handled his tenure in Cleveland, I bet the Sox would have been better off retaining him long term and just dumping the players they did in 2012.
  20. Well, that will never be the case. Whenever someone leaves the Sox, you only get the pro-Sox POV. Tito Theo Farrell Dombrowksi All were dragged once they left. Cora and Bloom will eventually be dragged too. It's how this ownership works. It's why they bought the Globe.
  21. Would that be Bloom's fault or Henry's?
  22. That's quite the 1-2 punch. It's like running Manny/Ortiz out there again. If the owner is ok with going over the lux tax, I'd do it. I'd be more confident in Judge than some of the other FA's out there. Hard to say "yes" when I don't know what the final $$$ amount is. My interest is piqued though.
  23. Dingleberry Dave.
  24. All I really want them to do is DFA Brasier. It's time, Bloom.
  25. Not a big surprise. Maybe keeping McGee and Reed around a little longer to get a better look at them? IDK.
