  1. The only way Schwarber was likely was to sign him back before '22 and build him into the roster back then. A lot harder once you add Masa.
  2. My son apparently bet his lunch money that the Sox would beat the Phillies tonight. I told him to not trust the Sox like that.
  3. They can't fire him because nobody will apply for the job. They are simply stuck with him through next season unless they are going to promote an internal candidate. Saying that shouldn't count as defending Breslow.
  4. No. Big difference between AA and MLB. Brannon has a lot of swing and miss and would be eaten alive. Arias has been hot, but still needs to show that this hot month and a half isn't an aberration. He'll get called up to AAA first with maybe a very late season callup to BOS. Brannon has a much longer path to go. He's missed a lot of time due to injury and doesn't have good defense to fall back on. Even if he keeps mashing, he's not close to BOS. His power is LEGIT though.
  5. What specifically was it that he said that bothered you? What's the direct quote?
  6. With how this organization has treated the fanbase since 2019, what is the incentive for anyone to be a 162 guy/girl? It just doesn't exist anymore. Now we're just endlessly fighting about the different reasons and ways we're mad about the Red Sox.
  7. My post wasn't carrying water for the team. If you see it that way, I don't know what to tell you. I just don't understand the whole "boycott, boycott, I don't care, this is horrible, but I'm still gonna watch" gimmick. When something sucks, I find something else to do with my life. Changing the channel is easy. Not letting Craig Breslow bother me all weekend long is even easier.
  8. Honestly, Sam doing that was a big PR mistake. What a dum dum. Even if it was up to Breslow, you don't say put it back on the CBO like that. Sam is just worthless. All communication from the Sox FO stinks (Brez, Sam, Tom, Henry, etc.). However, who here hasn't held Breslow accountable at all? I don't understand that point. Who is this mysterious fanboy who refuses to let anyone be mean to Craig? Since the Devers trade, it's been a disaster. They are just stuck with him for now because they have had too much churn at the CBO position and nobody takes this FO seriously anymore. They got Craig because real candidates didn't want the job.
  9. You're going to make one of the best young defensive OFers in baseball a 1B?
  10. "Some people thought it was good that Cora was fired. Therefore, they believe that Breslow is amazing and should never be fired." Cora bad. Breslow bad, but has plot armor.
  11. Expecting consistency from Story may be too much to ask. Duran? IDK.
  12. Sometimes, it's just not my day.
  13. This is a misattributed quote!!! I didn't say this.
  14. Flyball pitcher who gives up pulled HR's like he's Kutter Crawford in '24. Surely the Sox can take advantage of Andrew Painter!
  15. Contreras 24th Abreu 31st Those are the only good hitters on the team.
  16. If they trade Chapman AND Whitlock, that bullpen is going be really, really bad next season. The end of this year would be tank city.
  17. Even then, why? Trout's money is HUGE. Masa is only paid through the end of '27. Most teams wouldn't want to take on the end of Trout's deal as we're getting close to a lot of dead money as he ages. He's paid $35M+ annually and he's only been worth that in a single season since '19 (one season above 3 fWAR). Just because he looks good today doesn't mean the typical season ending Trout injury isn't popping up tonight or next week. Why are we excited to pay for his age 38 and 39 seasons?
  18. I think the hope was that the younger players improve and provide lift to the lineup. That clearly hasn't happened. Also, younger players have a wide variance in their performance early on in their careers. It should have been anticipated that everything would be smooth.
  19. I like Contreras more than Alonso FWIW. I don't have a problem with what they did at 1b. 3b is a problem. OF/DH is a problem. SS is a problem.
