  1. I'm sure they'll round into their modern October form over the next few weeks that we've come to know and love since 2000.
  2. Schwarber played 127 games in LF, sir. Some other numbers: Schwarber age 29 Abreu age 35 Schwarber 40 HR Abreu 15 HR Schwarber 85 RBI Abreu 72 RBI Schwarber 19.5 Launch Abreu 7.9 Launch Schwarber .498 XWOBACON Abreu .409 XWOBACON Schwarber 20.1 Barrel % Abreu 9 Barrel % If you overlook Schwarber's strikeouts, Schwarber is just a beast. Abreu is turning into an aging Punch & Judy hitter who seemed pretty damn lucky this year. If I'm signing a guy for the next few years, I'm going to have to put my money on Schwarber instead of Abreu. Maybe I'm wrong, but the above numbers point out some disturbing trends for Abreu.
  3. If this team plays hard at the end of the year and gets to .500 but end up in last place, the narrative will still be "this was a last place team." Who cares if they are 81-81 or 75-87?
  4. Bring back the screen on the Monster.
  5. Schwarber had a 120 OPS+ and played 127 games in LF. That was a lot better than what we got out there. They went over the tax limit, so I don't see why they couldn't sign Kyle AND Trevor? JD is coming off the books this offseason to cover Kyle's salary anyway.
  6. Choker. Typical for someone from ND.
  7. Boggs beat several HBP’s with the power of chicken and Nyquil. Suck it up Trevor.
  8. 20 (story) + 7 (wacha) + 5 (hill) + strahm (3) + pax (6) = 41. Straight cash homey.
  9. I agree that Rafaela and Valdez are ahead of Ward. Walter will probably be protected? IDK. He's another weird profile guy. He'll be 27 next September. He's only thrown 7.2 innings above AA. Command heavy and not overpowering. What's the medical situation look like?
  10. Story's base salary according to Sportrac in 2022 was $20M bucko. If you're going the lux tax route or whatever the Hell you were using, Paxton becomes $10M.
  11. At least we won't feel the need to watch it if we don't have apple TV?
  12. Paulino is way too far away to be protected. Wikelman is probably too far away to be protected this time. Would a team be likely to select Wikelman after 17 innings in High A? His Low A numbers weren't popping off the stat sheet. Murphy doesn't have a long track record of success and struggled in AAA this season. He may not be protected either. Personally, I think it's more likely that Ward is protected than any of the guys you mentioned. He's much closer in proximity to the bigs so he's easier to stash and he's performed well since coming back from TJS.
  13. There's enough other fans that still fill the void for now.
  14. Schwarber signed for $41M AAV? Holy s***! Good for him...
  15. After having Pedroia's contract for all those years, dead money is just part of the budget now.
  16. They did talk to John Henry once, which is just about as good as SoxfanForsyth did!
  17. To get 2 starting pitchers? Ok, but Garcia is going to be getting a lot of playing time.
  18. C'mon now.
  19. We'll have to ask him about Robert Johnson the next time he comes in. https://www.talksox.com/forum/members/5604-SoxFanForsyth I'm more of a Blind Willie Johnson man myself.
  20. It was a chilly night which is how our hero wound up in this predicament to begin with!
  21. It wasn't the AAA version of Larry either. It was the real deal.
  22. As the TalkSox historian, I believe it was Larry's.
  23. But you still need to factor in Garcia's $36M and I don't think a team like the Marlins would be willing to eat much salary to begin with.
  24. We did have a poster here that once gave Larry Lucchino a ride home once!
  25. Ok, so we are so very concerned about re-signing guys like Bogey and Devers and we don't want to go over the luxury tax buuuuuuuuuut... let's just dump a ton of cash on a player like Avisail Garcia for 3 more years. What? How does that make any sense? Why are we clogging our payroll at all if you guys are concerned about payroll flexibility and staying under the cap?
