  1. You see, in harmony's world: Mariner's good, Red Sox bad. Mariners have a bottom 5 system and the Sox have a top 10 system, but the Sox just don't have anything that Mariners could possibly want!
  2. Playing any other position is beneath him?
  3. I agree.
  4. I think it's a bad idea for the Sox to wait around for Bogey though.
  5. Padres inquired about Bogaerts to see if they'd be able to move him around. He said no. My guess is that prevents them from making an offer. If he's adamant about Bogey staying at SS for the contract, it's going to limit the amount of teams that will bid on him.
  6. Tanner Houck? Why would the Sox trade him for the expiring contracts of Flexen and Winker. Even just Alex Verdugo for Flexen and Winker is considered and overpay for the Sox.
  7. Not really since Abreu was the Sox #1 target regardless of how I felt about it. Sox are getting the rug pulled out from under them right now. It's a little embarrassing.
  8. It's the largest FA contract the Rays have signed, but the AAV is lower than Morton's 2/30 back in 2018. It's a weirdly backloaded deal where they'll probably unload him after 2024 anyway.
  9. Abreu would be a bad signing for sure if they didn't get a SS or OF.
  10. You can have Downs, that's fine.
  11. Do you not like any good news?
  12. Some of us knew of him last week. I think he would have been an interesting addition, but I'd rather them spend money on higher value starting arms like Senga and Kluber. The context is that this comes on the heels of the Sox apparently also missing out on #1 target Jose Abreu. It just makes them look a little silly right now. I wouldn't be all that excited if the Sox grabbed Eflin and Abreu for those contracts.
  13. Because he lives an hour away from there. If he lived near Arlington he would have shopped the contract to the Rangers.
  14. 4 per 9 is about half his career rate. If he could do that going forward, he'd be a force.
  15. Sox just need to sell themselves better. Sox can outbid any other team if they want to.
  16. I think I'm getting the spins...
  17. 87th in fWAR for starters in 2022 even though he through 180 innings. I'd put him as a 4th starter for the 2023 Sox. If Pivetta was a FA looking for Taijuan Walker $$$, I'd pass.
  18. Because fWAR uses FIP?
  19. He was awarded the MVP on 11/15/18. He was traded on 2/4/20.
  20. That's not how it works.
  21. @BaseballAmerica Baseball America's MLB Executive of the Year The @Braves hired Alex Anthopoulos as general manager in November 2017. The club has done nothing but win ever since. How do we get that last part?
  22. If the Sox hadn't confirmed the Abreu #1 interest story, maybe this would be less concerning?
  23. @alexspeier Source confirms @chadjennings report: Red Sox thought they’d reached agreement with Zach Eflin on a 3-year, $40M deal, but the Orlando native shopped it to TB, who matched it and signed the RH starter
  24. Just parkour up to the ladder and make the catch.
  25. Apparently, the story is that Eflin got the structure of the deal from the Boston and then shopped it directly to the Rays who said "yeah, we'll match it."
