  1. I get why people don't like DHern. However, he's a guy that if he just figures it out a little bit, he becomes a late inning arm. He's got much more remaining potential than a lot of the other names on the list.
  2. What people like jung are upset about are analytics being shown to them on their tv screens. If NESN focused less on it and Bloom focused more on it, jung would probably be happier.
  3. Seeing that the root cause of this terrible year was injuries, I'm not sure how anyone can point their fingers at data analysis as being a problem.
  4. To me, Hosmer is more likely to provide value than Ronaldo Hernandez, Jeter Downs or Yu Chang. I don't see why they'd DFA him prior to Spring Training. He's cheap and decent injury insurance.
  5. Cordero 1b: -4 DRS -19.2 UZR/150 -8 OAA Calling Cordero "versatile" is a stretch greater than what he can do when Raffy is throwing the ball over to him.
  6. Not the Red Sox offer, that Mookie's statement was just for PR. That he really didn't want to stay in Boston no matter what. I personally have no idea what Mookie would have done. I just wish the Sox did counter and then our arguments would at least have a little more teeth and less conjecture.
  7. Cordero has NO trade value. As I said above, he's been DFA's numerous times and has yet to be claimed. If someone wanted him, they could have grabbed him for free. Why trade for him? I think Darwinzon has more trade value than Danish, Cordero and maybe Ort. Of the list, Hosmer is the least likely to be DFA'd unless they bring in another 1b somehow.
  8. Cordero has been DFA'd numerous times and has never been claimed. I would just keep doing it.
  9. Maybe as a Rule 5 pick for another org.
  10. I hope he's cracking it due to performance and not due to Sox ineptitude this offseason.
  11. The good thing for the rest of MLB is that the owner of the Astros is a dumbass who likes to insert himself. If he gets rid of the GM this offseason, as has been suggested, it shows me that they aren't a serious team long term.
  12. Which MLB organization has the most championships in the past 20 years?
  13. I saw that a while ago. People said on here it was just for PR. I think the Sox should have at least counter offered and shown more interest in retaining a franchise player like that.
  14. Bleacher Report is the worst. The Mikey Romero reach: 874 OPS between the complex league and low A If he's a guy you like and it enables you to sign Roman Anthony AND Brooks Brannon, seems like a smart pick when the player actually performs too.
  15. His past 3 years have been a mess. 2020: 20 innings, cut short due to injury 2021: 1.1 inning, cut short due to injury 2022: 0 innings, out due to multiple injuries. The only season he didn't get put on the IL/DL or MiLB inactive list was 2013. 14: 15 Day DL in April, transferred to 60 Day in June, returned in August 15: 15 Day DL in May, wasn't reactivated until September 16: 15 Day DL 17: 2 separate 10 Day DL trips 18: 2 separate 10 Day DL trips 19: 10 Day DL 20: 15 Day IL transferred to 60 Day and out for season 21: 15 Day IL transferred to 60 Day and out for season 22: 60 Day IL out for season
  16. I'm sure there are some posters that would rather him eat a bullet than bite a bullet, but I digress. If it was silver tipped, he may choose to not imbibe.
  17. Maybe he'll be able to get more hits that DiceK too, someday...
  18. At Paxton's age, he probably goes wherever the money is the highest.
  19. The durable Rick Porcello hasn't had an MLB contract since 2020, so I don't know if that's necessarily fair. If 2020 was a full season, he probably throws another 170 innings. If he was given a shot at a contract with any MLB team, he probably keeps piling up the injuries. He's not out because he's hurt.
  20. Yuck. Yankees should still sign him for 10 years though.
  21. Early on in his career, it looked like he had the clutch gene.
  22. I don't necessarily know if it was ratings or concessions or ticket sales or if they just thought "we'll get under pretty easily in one of the next two years anyway." I'm sure they had long conversations about it and weren't shocked when they went over. My guess it was a lot of 2014, 2015 and 2020 really sucked for this fanbase and our budget, let's try to at least make this team be more like 2010 and just reset soon. Personally, I think it's just easier to stay under whenever you can. Then you have the flexibility to go over in additional future years.
  23. They were on the outside looking in with injured starting pitchers. It was time to get under the cap IMO.
  24. Is the farm in place now? I think we are closer. Maybe 2024/2025? Is that when they can truly have a better handle on finances and farm additions? Luck will never be something they can count on, though signing injured and/or aging veterans isn't necessarily the blueprint for a healthy starting rotation. Hopefully Bloom learned from his 2022 mistakes.
  25. You didn't need to explain that Judge who was drafted in 2013 hasn't played in the WS. The original joke was obvious and fun.
