  1. The most antagonistic this site ever has been was 2012. If we get some more active users, I think we could get back there.
  2. @alexspeier The Red Sox continue to express their desire to extend Devers. But what if they can't? Has anything changed since Chaim Bloom said the Sox weren't contemplating dealing Devers? Bloom said no. 'He is at the center of everything we’re trying to do' All they are going to get is a comp pick.
  3. Wrong.
  4. The Red Sox will spend more on Kiké, Jansen, Yoshida, Joely, Martin in 2023 than the A's and Pirates spent on their active rosters COMBINED in 2022. Bad post. Two thumbs down.
  5. I think Jansen is neat.
  6. "Absolutely" at the end is f***ing hilarious to me.
  7. If they played a full 162, Springs and Mazza would have been 1-2 in the CY voting. They just needed a normal ST.
  8. No, they'll still spend up to the luxury tax, but on mid level guys that nobody will lining up to buy jerseys of.
  9. The goal is to have a strong farm so you'd figure it out eventually. At some point, a 10 year deal involves faith that your system will cover shortfalls at other positions via the farm. I guess Bloom and Co doesn't believe that they will be able to develop the talent needed to field a successful team in that manner.
  10. "We remain optimistic that we are going to field a very competitive team with a chance to play baseball in October and win a World Series in 2023, absolutely,” team president Sam Kennedy told me Saturday. I don't think that means that all the players are currently in house per se. 1. They are only optimistic. 2. The use of "going to field" to me seems like he is leaving open the idea that there are more additions. It's used car salesman talk that we've heard since 2020.
  11. What was the quote specifically?
  12. Someone really needs to kneecap Sammy.
  13. Wrong.
  14. Wah wah waaaaaaaaahhhhh....
  15. If you truly have a strong farm system, you can spend less on FA. Therefore, you can keep a few of your in house guys at a premium and use your farm to supplement your holes rather than overpaying via the FA market. They just spent like 30M on the bullpen. What if that all came in house instead? Tampa is able to cheaply build pens from year to year.
  16. https://www.overthemonster.com/2022/12/20/23518655/red-sox-offseason-news-meet-the-new-guy-wyatt-mills Link includes video of his sidearm delivery. I'm not expecting much out of Mills TBH.
  17. Mookie signed for 20% more.
  18. No s***, huh...
  19. $360 to Betts $300 to Raffy They spent 30+AAV on Price and 25+AAV on a broken down Sale. I think they could have afforded Betts and Raffy.
  20. If the report is wrong, McAdam is lying?
  21. 1. McAdam is a liar. 2. McAdam spoke with someone who really didn't know, like a low level source. 3. The Sox really believed Xander would come back and were delusional. 4. The Sox were lying.
  22. He didn't need to sign all of them. Just pick two. If he extended Mookie and Raffy, but let Bogey go, there wouldn't be the outrage we see now.
  23. We'll see. After that, he's gone.
  24. Then why would FO personnel tell Sean McAdam that they were definitely going to sign Bogey?
