  1. @SmittyOnMLB Red Sox prospects Nick Yorke, Stephen Scott (5 homers) named All-Stars in AFL
  2. The fact that deGrom came back after injury and pitched great would make me tempted to give him a large contract to get him out of Queens. Mets are said to be prioritizing Nimmo and Diaz rather than deGrom.
  3. Why do the Rays keep getting the better end of their trades?
  4. Die Wally, Die.
  5. Excluding the 20M+ guys, the order of preference would be: Taillon Syndergaard Wacha Walker Manaea I'm not sure I'd want two of them though. They are all mid rotation guys at best.
  6. Manaea is not a Bloom guy from the looks of his Statcast page. Woof.
  7. If Correa is 6/210, you can still probably afford Raffy if you want.
  8. What is the unique "routine" that they are questioning?
  9. @ChrisCotillo In each of the last two winters, Chaim Bloom has made a surprise trade involving an outfielder with two years left of control. Could Alex Verdugo follow Andrew Benintendi and Hunter Renfroe out the door? Some within Red Sox are down on Verdugo due to numbers (not average, but everything else) regressing across the board as well as questions about Verdugo’s preparation and unique routine throughout the year. If so, they are a year too late in trading him. His value is going down each season.
  10. Bogaerts better be amendable to moving off SS someday anyway. 8 years from now, he's defense is going to be horrific.
  11. Manaea at 12? He was putrid down the stretch this year. I'm not sure Heaney should get a pay raise after missing half a season. Walker at 14 seems like an overpay. Syndergaard and Eovaldi may be worse bets than Taillon going forward. Is Bassitt really a $21M guy? That seems really high. That's basically the inflated Fangraphs value of WAR. Kershaw signed 1/17 last season. He's now going to get 31M AAV? These numbers seem a little high...
  12. Why? Because the Sox would rather go all in on a SS, or because Bogaerts just doesn't want to be here?
  13. And things like Heyman's 8/225 amount could just come out of thin air. It's silly season right now until guys start actually getting signed.
  14. I've said as much several times since the Mookie trade.
  15. Bloom could have traded JD and Eovaldi and their full contracts for low level prospects at the very least. They were able to trade Vaz for two prospects and the Astros only wanted him as a backup catcher. I think some team would have wanted JD for at least a bench bat or Eovaldi as a 5th starter.
  16. Playoff Race on 7/30/22: Yankees ALE MIN ALC HOU ALW TOR WC1 SEA WC2 TBR WC3 Did that change drastically by 9/30/22? Was it so "unpredictable" as you say?
  17. Beauty is in the eye of the goatherder is what I've been told. Baaaah...
  18. "Expected" back. Can't go on "expectations." Gotta go on what you actually know. Being below .500. Knowing your team has a bunch of guys injured and unproductive.
  19. @redsoxstats Heyman projects Bogaerts to get 8 years, $225M (28M AAV through his age 37 season). If it's 8 years at $28M, it's time to let Bogey go. I was ok with 6 and the compromise was 7.
  20. I have said that I understand why they went that route, I just disagree with it. I disagreed with it from before the season even began so maybe I was biased from the jump?
  21. The 21 team struggled at times, but showed a lot of fight. The 22 team only played well in June. Aside from that, they were pretty unwatchable.
  22. On July 30th, the Red Sox starting lineup had 5 players with an OPS under 700. Was that going to win them a WS? Excluding the pitcher, the '21 Braves had 1 player with an OPS under 700 on 7/30/21 starting. Do we really want to go down the lineup and compare position by position and say why the two teams are very dissimilar?
  23. If that's all they could have gotten for JD and Eovaldi, then fine... At least they would've gotten under the cap.
  24. Nobody wishes that, especially not Celtics fans. They hate him the most.
