  1. Well, if you lowered it to 190, you'd get Chris Davis in 2018 having a -2.6 fWAR.
  2. Don't worry, he'll be ready to go for 2023 Opening Day!
  3. They did just sign Bleis in 2021 and he's already a top 3-5 prospect in the system. Hard to really project off of FCL/DSL stats, but it looks like Salem will have a considerable amount of former DSL guys next season.
  4. https://www.overthemonster.com/2022/11/3/23435821/should-the-red-sox-re-sign-rich-hill OTM today discusses the possibility of re-signing Rich Hill this offseason. One thing that I hadn't heard is that Hill suggested he may want to come back midseason. If that's the case, I'm not sure why the Sox would plan on making room for him. Maybe bring him back during the year if things are looking well and they need the help, but if he only wants to go for half a season, they need to really just go get someone else. They tried adding up part time pitchers last season to make a whole rotation and it didn't work.
  5. Guys can come out of nowhere and become aces. Guys can also disappear back into the ether after they completely lose it. He had an ace like season. He can do it again, it's just not guaranteed.
  6. To me, I think Cashman is a better fit for the Yankees than Boone. I don't get it. I don't see the upside to keeping Boone. Cashman has at least kept the Yankees competitive for a long stretch of time and has been able to establish a great farm system. Due to the crap shoot of the playoffs, they just haven't gotten over the hump.
  7. This doesn't make sense at all. Chaim isn't really involved in the talent evaluation internationally. It has been typically delegated to Eddie Romero who oversees the scouting directors.
  8. I always wanted the Sox to bring Dunn to Fenway. He had more career HR, RBI, K and BB than either Davis or Reynolds. I believe Dunn is third all time behind Reggie and Thome in K's, but has a higher k%. Dunn has the highest k% of anyone in the top 10 all time in k's, but also second highest bb %. 462 HR 1168 RBI 2379 K 1317 BB
  9. Yes, especially since they most likely were going to lose Vaz at the end of the year and they were GRACIOUS to allow Vaz a PLAYOFF run where he could catch a no hitter in the World Series. They could have held onto him and forced him to stick it out on a horrible last place team. Nope, they released him from this misery. Though so people on here would claim that the Sox did him dirty...
  10. It only looked complicated because we assumed they'd try to stay under the cap. They didn't. I think he could have platooned with Dalbec and had some DH AB's. Regardless, putting Renfroe and Schwarber on the 2022 team doesn't make them a playoff team.
  11. Ownership is not going to ever give a full listing of all the offers that they have put out so certain fans will never be pleased.
  12. He didn't offer one to Schwarber. Ownership never confirmed they made an offer to Suzuki, but reports said that they were in on him. Reports never had them in on Schwarber.
  13. Horrible AAV. No wonder he wouldn't take it.
  14. What trophy did he end up winning?
  15. @PeteAbe David Ortiz 2013 postseason: 18 of 51 with 5 HRs, 13 RBI, 12 runs and a 1.206 OPS over 16 games. Bryce Harper 2022 postseason: 21 of 55 with 6 HRs, 13 RBI, 12 runs and a 1.232 OPS over 14 games.
  16. @SPChrisHatfield Another AFL injury note: RHP Thaddeus Ward is expected to return for a start later this week/weekend. Ward left his second AFL start, on 10/10, with a strained left oblique. He'll get one or maybe two more starts (just 5 more games for Scottsdale, plus maybe playoffs).
  17. He's only played in 2 organizations. All young players play for a bunch of teams, especially if you start off down in the DSL.
  18. @alexspeier Triston Casas has missed the last two weeks of the Dominican Winter League season, but an exam in Boston suggested no reason for concern, and the team expects him to resume playing for Licey Figured I'd just put this here with the other winter league updates.
  19. I think moon was trying to reference Wilyer Abreu but goofed on the last name. https://www.milb.com/player/wilyer-abreu-677800
  20. It could be. Hard to say. If 2022 is a rare occurrence, than it isn't. We'll have to see. The body just also becomes more fragile as players age.
  21. He can say he's trying harder, but there's no proof.
  22. This is what he said: "I think both of these guys showed well," Bloom told reporters in reference to McGuire and Wong, as seen on NESN's broadcast Thursday. "Which is good for them, good for us. We didn't want to be in the position we were in, in the end, but we tried to make the most of that position in terms of giving them opportunities. Both for their growth and benefit and also for ours. "I think they definitely raise the floor of what we have. Now that said, this is one of the areas that I fully expect we're going to explore additions. It's nice to know we have at least two guys that are familiar with how we do things, that showed a lot of good things but we owe it to ourselves and everybody who cares about this team to look to get better, and catcher is certainly not going to be an exception to that." Maybe he does just get a backup? Who knows?
  23. I think Hamilton is a viable 3rd string catcher. He's a guy you use in a pinch or in case of injury for a week or two. It's just interesting the Bloom called out the need to pursue catching when most people were thinking of other positions.
  24. I can't believe that same baseball came back and hit him again in the hand in September and caused him to be out for another 20 games. Unbelievable. There are guys that do get HBP and don't miss a month and a half, but alas...
  25. We'll see if that happens going forward.
