  1. Because those are protected.
  2. He only made two starts in Winter Ball, finished with 7 IPs.
  3. He got surgery last February if I remember correctly. He got fully recovered, until he got a stiff right shoulder pitching for Detroit. He suffered that again playing Winter Ball in Venezuela in November. How can't you like the idea when is only a minor league deal?
  4. You should have posted Dewan's Plus/Minus system for Defense for Young for the past 5 seaons. Don't cherry pick stats. The plus/minus numbers represent the number of plays the player made above or below the number that the average shortstop would have made. Here you go. From Dewan's Fielding Bible. Plus/Minus System for Michael Young 2004: -34 2005: -39 2006:-10 2007: -15 2008: -7 From 2004-2008, Young's plus/minus numbers are -105. Only Jeter is worst with -118. UZR puts Young as below average, the Plus/Minus system has him among the worst shortstops in the game for the last seasons. Rob Neyer from ESPN.com (Yeah, he's biased against Michael Young too ) Link John Dewan also hates Michael Young
  5. Fangraphs is a great site, you should actually visit it before talking so much ********. But okay, show me a source that proves Young is a great defensive shortstop. A credible one, come on go ahead. Is really easy to call my source biased. If he's such a good shortstop, one of the best in the league, and just won a Gold Glove Award why they want to move him and his 80/5 contract and .741 OPS to 3B just to give the position to Elvis Andrus, a 20 year old shortstop with no power that hasn't even played above AA? Because Andrus, is a great defensive shortstop, and he can actually field to his left side, unlike Young. Is not because of his bat, that's for sure. Young is a 5 time All Star. Gold Glove Award mean nothing, even Jeter won one. Young has been an horrible defender his entire career, but in 2008 he was below average. Will he keep improving for the next 5 years? Nope. In fact, as a Yankee fan. I would love to see you guys get Michael Young.
  6. Lowe is a #4? Based on his 3 last seasons with the Dodgers, he has pitched like a #2, stats don't lie. Vazquez in NL, is 200 IP, 200K and a sub 4 ERA guaranteed. That's good enough for a #3. Kawakami? Hmm I don't know, the Braves have been scouting him for months. His has a low 90’s fastball, a plus cutter and a very slow curveball around 65 mph, and also throws a shuuto. Let's see if he pans out before counting him as a #4. Hanson has ace stuff, he's a #1 if he pans out. Hudson will be back by mid-season. Campillo is fair enough for #5, for now. Plus they have depth with guys like Jo-Jo Reyes and Charlie Morton. So yeah, I think is impressive. They have by much, a better rotation than the Mets right now.
  7. Masterson for Montero, straight up.
  8. 1.Lowe 2. Vazquez 3. Kawakami 4. Jurrjens 5. Campillo 6. Hanson 7. Hudson (2nd half) That's a great rotation for the NL East.
  9. Yeah the site is biased against MICHAEL YOUNG! I never thought of that. Idiot
  10. Dunn is a DH. A player without a position to play. Bay hits for average, power, is a good fielder and decent baserunner. Dunn only hits for power, and doesn't likes baseball.
  11. Show me stats. He was 2nd in Fielding%, but that's useless.
  12. Good luck with that. He'd be one of the best available hitters on next year market.
  13. Just because Lugo is worst that doesn't makes Young a good option. Young's OPS last 4 seasons 2005: .899 2006: .814 2007: .783 2008: .741 2008 Home/Away splits Home: .305/.362/.441 Away: .264/.317/.364 Career Home/Away splits Home: .322/.369/.441 Away: .279/.323/.404 Using Ultimate Zone Rating (UZR), one of the best defensive metric out there. Let's compare him with Jeter, just so everyone has an idea. Young: -3.7 Jeter: -0.5 Even Jeter was better than him last year defensively (and offensively, but that's not the point). And that's the guy you want to give a $16 mill AAV for the following 5 years? Oh great.
  14. Young is awful, the Sox should stay away.
  15. Ramon Ramirez in AAA?
  16. Does this means Masterson can be traded now? Perhaps for Salty?
  17. Oh god, my bad. His birthday was LAST WEEK!!! You're an *******.
  18. Burnett? He's 31
  19. Among those, the Yanks will be interested in Holliday, Bay and probably Crawford.
  20. Burnett went 221 IPs last year and Penny just 95. Burnett has pitched 730.5 IPs since 2005, while Penny has only pitched 666.3 in the same time frame. And he won 18 games last season. There's a high injury risk in Burnett but he's not a gamble. Penny is just a flier.
  21. What if Drew goes to the DL for a month? We're not sure if Baldelli can play consecutive days yet. Yeah, I know "is a low risk move, nothing to lose" bleh. I'd rather have Gabe Kapler.
  22. He'll be a good reliever.
