  1. Wilkerson's signing looks brilliant now.
  2. No? There's a difference of $17.5 million or $17,500,000 which is a lot. That's kinda close to the Marlins' payroll. Am I going too fast? Do you need some drawings or something?
  3. It was $82.5 million, f***ing idiot. Unlike Varitek, Burnett had a great year. He received many offers, so there was a bidding war for his services (unlike Tek), I can understand his price going up. How many offers do we heard for Tek? How is Burnett overpaid? He's an injury risk, yeah. But he's also a high risk, high reward guy. Wanna talk about overpaying? The Sox guaranteed 5 million for a NL West pitcher with 3/4 shoulder left that only managed to pitch 96 IPs last year, while his average FB dropped around 2 mph. Brilliant. That's a lot of money, considering most rehab pitchers are signing Milb deals, and healthy pitchers like Looper and Garland got around that kind of money. Oh yeah, and Smoltz was even more overpayed. He got 5.5 million guaranteed, and will start to pitch in June. He can earn up to $11 million with incentives. His contract. # 1 year/$5.5M (2009) * $5.5M in bonuses based on days on active 25-man roster: o $125,000 for his first day o $ 35,000 per day, June 1 - Oct. 3 o $500,000 for Oct. 4 So he has 5.5 million guaranteed, without pitching the first two months. If he's on the 25-man, he gets $35,000 a day during a 4 month period! 0.5m just for being on the 25-man on Oct. 4. No wonder why he picked the Sox, it was a no brainer. They better pan out.
  4. No, I said he pitched better than what his numbers show. Jackson said he was an ace, not me.
  5. Yeah, just like Beckett.
  6. ERA and WHIP? Okay ignorant.
  7. Wooho. Being picked in the first round means success! Yeah, about his other peripherals...
  8. You realize Chase Wright has better MilB numbers than Kris Johnson?
  9. It has been an abject failure since they guaranteed $5 million to a 37 year old catcher who finished with a 73 OPS+ and a -2.0 VORP, on THIS market.
  10. Huh? Based on his minor league record, he's not better than Hughes, Kennedy, Coke, Aceves. So I don't see your point. And what holes? :lol You guys need him more than we do.
  11. His highest ceiling is to be a league average catcher. But being realistic he's an above average backup catcher. He's a plus defensive catcher like Molina but better hitter, he's the Yanks backup catcher for 2010, or can serve as a stop gap catcher until Montero/Romine are ready.
  12. Good sinkerballers like Wang are not afraid to pitch for contact. Sure sure, bias more. A groundball pitcher with one of the worst defenses in the majors behind him is a fluky pitcher, sureeeeeee everything makes sense now
  13. Ehhh so? Missing bats not necessarily means success. I don't even want to think you're implying Masterson's sinker is better than Wang's, but okay. Lol @ his .243 BABIP and 4.69 FIP last season.
  14. Wang has only two pitches? That's certainly news to me. Check again.
  15. Maybe Bard has improved defensively. The manager and the FO know more than we do. Bard catched Wake 2 years ago and he only lasted a month. Plus he's more of a sure thing than Kottaras right now.
  16. That's exactly how is going to look like. It wasn't so hard.
  17. I know right!
  18. Red Sox, Yankees, Twins and Angels Phillies, Braves, Cubs and Giants/Dodgers (depends on who signs Manny)
