  1. What about this guy? http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2006/writers/tom_verducci/09/27/baseball.mailbag/t1_wang2.jpg And the Yankees infield defense got a huge upgrade with Swisher. It wasn't so awful before anyway.
  2. In the end K-Rod got less $$$ than Rivera, despite the fact of being younger.
  3. At least he ripped off the Twins.
  4. Huh? What s***? Your s***** attempt to make fun of me off by using a link? Oh come on, you have to be better than that. So I post some peripherals, and you call my post s***? Care to elaborate?
  5. Wow nice job getting those stats. But they don't mean anything really. That's a really small sample size anyway. You forgot these: BABIP: .233 (LUCK) K/9: 4.80 BB/9: 3.00 HR/9: 1.20 FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching): 4.80 ---> His FIP doubles his ERA. The guy was lucky as hell. Your stats make him look as an ace. But his peripherals prove he sucked. Is like when Rasner had that good month of May, with peripherals not so different from these. You're the fool, get your facts straight.
  6. Even with the opt out clause, they're still getting 3 of CCs prime years. Which is pretty good. I read somewhere that if he opts out he lefts $92 million on the table (69 for the first 3 years). I don't know how they market will evolve. But considering his high inning workload and weight concerns by the time he's 31-32 he'll really have to think about it before opting out. And I don't know what you guys talking about, Aceves sucked.
  7. Beckett kinda broked down already and just because he's cheaper doesn't means he's better. The Rays are overrated.
  8. Actually the Red Sox need a starter more than what everyone thinks. Tex would help. But they should get a starter too.
  9. Three pitchers? Biggest sample size ever. You forgot Dice-K.
  10. I think they want Pettite back for 12-13m, that explains why they didn't offer him arbitration. But in the case of Abreu, they don't want him back. If they wanted him, they would had offered him arbitration and then give him they 45/3 contract he desires, or just take him back for 17/1.
  11. Is not that he doesn't wants to be a Yankee, is just that they're not his first choice. Plus is just two offers so far, he's doing the right thing by being patient. That doesn't means he doesn't wants to play for the Yankees.
  12. This reduces the chances of the Giants getting CC Sabathia.
  13. You can rebuild from whitin and spend wisely on FAs, there's nothing wrong with that. That's what Cashman needs to do on the next 3 years. If they're going to lose a draft pick, then make it count. By signing guys like CC or Tex. But don't waste a draft pick in a guy like Burnett or Lowe.
  14. With Tommy Hanson waiting.
  15. Not really, it makes all the sense in the world. They don't want to pay around $17.5 million for 1 year of Abreu. That's not pocket change for the Yankees anymore. If Abreu hits the FA market as a type-A, it'll be hard for him to get a multi-year deal around 10-12m a year somewhere else. So he can just stay home in NY (were he likes to play) for another year earning more than $17 million. As this article explains: If the Yanks had offered arb to Abreu, then would have another OF logjam. Having to move Damon to his worst position (CF) and Nady to LF. And that strictly means Swisher would have to play 1B. Now that Abreu is gone, they can aim for targets like Ramirez, Tex and Dunn.
  16. His career 4.84 K/9 and 3.25 BB/9 are not impressive. But I guess he's a middle relief filler guy.
  17. And when Brown signed his contract he was 34 years old. Exactly 6 years more than Sabathia now. And exactly the same length of CCs future contract.
  18. Oh now is a JOKE? I though it was called breakthrough" Yeah sure, feel proud about the tiny bit of intelligence you have. To predict MLB numbers based on Winter Leagues numbers. Oh wait, that was a joke too, don't feel offended.
  19. Hmm WHAT? When did I changed my mind about BA? Even if BA is useless, .242 in Winter Leagues!!!! is clearly NOT ON FIRE. And BA affects OBP, in case you don't know. Is not only "working the strike zone". And I went to MLB.com and I can't still find when Brown putted a .360 OBP with the Red Sox. Oh cmon! Help me, give me the exact link. This is what I found. http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o74/Di0ny/ZZZZ-1.jpg
  20. I'm sorry, can you link me to the stats page where you found he putted a .360 OBP in the majors? Thanks in advance. 28 games in the Dominican Winter League are a better indicator of future perfomance than a 8 year career in the minor leagues. Hah really? Oh wait, Melky Cabrera is hitting .346/.393/.385 in the DR. Screw Damon. I'll take my 400K, .360 OBP too, thank you very much.
