  1. Agreed. Though you can be certain the FO is trying to take care of business behind the scenes regarding extensions for Youk and Lester. Multi-tasking is one of Theo Epstein's strong points IMHO.
  2. As much as i would love that, i don't see the Pirates trading Doumit.
  3. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH ROTFLMFAO. He's really handing your ass over to you in a platter 26 aka "Silly Willy"
  4. Lol @ tentative best offense. I mean, you're not serious, are you? You were just over-stating while trying to prove a point, right?
  5. Not conspiracy, conapiracing, it's the new, hip way to say it.
  6. With a notable exception being the clinching game for the Brewers, it wasn't October, but it was their most important game of the year to that point.
  7. And last year's horrendous postseason start should be forgiven, since he had been pitching with 3-days rest for a month. That, if anything else, cemented his status as a true ace, but he is only human, so he was gassed by the time the postseason rolled around.
  8. And with the market for pitching so thin after the Burnett and Sabathia signings, looking for someone who overpays is the right thing to do IMO.
  9. Oh, so they opened up the market for the Red Sox, right? That's the signing that led to the Okajima and Tazawa signings, and NOT the Matsuzaka signing?
  10. If the point is that they're hard to make contact against, then that is correct.

  12. Just so you know, english is my 2nd language as well, so that is no excuse.
  13. Correct grammar is important. It enhances your credibility. It shows your respect for others if you take the time to spell-check. It demonstrates that you have the necessary intellect to present coherent ideas. So its importance is not overrated, as you state.
  14. Yes he does, and that is solving the C situation, but there is more than enough time for that.
  15. The point is you gotta take into account the fact that Petco Park is a pitcher's haven, so adjusting his home ERA would give you a better idea of how he would do in a new, more hitter oriented home park, as in Fenway Park.
  16. For the sake of every yankee fan around here who talks like he has magically found a fountain of health, he better friggin' be healthy.
  17. You gotta consider Sabathia spent most of last season in a salary drive in the NL. But Sabathia is one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball, but saying he's the less hittable due to a salary drive in the decidedly weaker NL is just ludicrous. I'd take Burnett's data much more seriously.
  18. If it could be done for the package you state here, it probably would have been, i think it's good for both sides, but i suppose SD would want much more in return.
  19. Jon Heyman agrees with my take on Epstein: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/jon_heyman/02/18/heyman.bestGMs/index.html So the people who get paid to write about sports (although they aren't always very bright, i usually agree with Heyman's POVs because he's as objective as sportswriters can be IMHO). So i guess Epstein's approach to build for the long term is viewed favorably by people who actually work in the industry.
