  1. Fail The word "fail" is often used to disapprove of a person or said persons' activity, opinion or behavior. Can also be blended with other words for variations like "failboat". This can mean that someone thinks whatever you are doing is not good. Examples: jacksonianmarch FAILS at having credibility. jacksonianmarch FAILS at understanding context in order to make lame jokes. jacksonianmarch FAILS at life. Looks like someone who lives in the U.S needs to learn about the variations of modern English, i.e internet slang. You should be ashamed that someone who, quoting Gom "Would need to cross the sea on a floating door to get to the US, knows a lot more about your language than you do. Oh, and not only do i beat you by knowing the different meanings that a single word may have, i also write in a much more correct manner. So how about you take a floating door over here? At least you wouldn't FAIL at humor.........
  2. The keyboard of reason! Finally!
  3. *Yawn* I'm so pissed because of your lame-ass comment that i am willing to renounce ever watching baseball again. I have a question though: How can you, a single poster, bring more than 50% of all the FAIL in this site?
  4. This is historical. For the first time in baseball history, the offseason has ended in December!!!!!!
  5. You just lowered your credibility to 0 with that statement. You, sir, are a douche.
  6. You forget he's a Yankee Homer. Everything the Sox do is wrong by his standards.
  7. I agree with Doiji's thinking in some parts. Specially how douchy it is to go "oh naw the red sox suxxor ass, tha yanks r gunna win the division by 35,000,000 games!!!" insert dumb smiley and stupid comment about the FO here. Yea, the FO has holes to fill. The Sox are not a finished product. But it's f***ING DECEMBER people. And shut the f*** up about Teixeira, they might have f***ed up the negotiations as many of you claim here.......but how the f*** would any of us know? We were not there.......and everyone's just pissed because the Yankees got him, but so f***ing what? How many times a lot of the complainers here said Tex was a LUXURY, not a NEED, and now come crying like little bitches because the FO didn't wanna give in to Boras' game and give him a 200+ mill package. IMO, it was a convincing contract offer, since 170 mill would have been a top 10 all-time contract, and so the Yankees got him for 10 more mill, but can you honestly say you know what went down there to convert some douchebag sportswriter's comment into a fact? How quick we are to forget that this FO's MO has made them become THE model organization in baseball. So stop the sour grapes and the ********, and at least wait until the 2009 Red Sox are a finishes before continuing to sound like 4-year-olds who didn't get the gift they wanted. That is all.
  8. Yea, my view of the current Sox situation is: "Aren't we in f***ing December?" I don't think we're the 3rd best team in the division right now. That will be decided by the actually complete rosters that take the field in April, right now, taking a neutral stance would be the way to go, because there's still a lot of time to improve the positions that are ACTUAL weaknesses. Also, we lost on Teixeira, yeah yeah, big f***ing deal, everyone shut the f*** up about it already, and let's see what Theo does from here to March to make the team better and THEN decide by PERFORMANCE the balance of power in the AL East.
  9. The larger the sample, the more likely the stats tend to find consistency, so you would be completely right about your comment.
  10. You're quite a hypocrite then, given how you always talk about the importance of developing young talent. Besides, again, for the 100th time: Penny = depth........and you can never have enough depth.
  11. We agree, except i may be a little biased, because i don't think the Sox are "evil", only the Yankees are evil to me.
  12. You mean Taveras, and he'd be f***ing atrocious in any sense of the word, since he is the exact opposite of the Red Sox philosophy when it comes to hitting.
  13. Well, they made the playoffs, and have a solid core of young hitter, plus, they don't absolutely suck like in years past, so i don't see what you mean by "nothing has changed".
  14. It would be absolutely devastating to see Jason Bay on pinstripes. That said, i'm beginning to like the idea of Miguel Montero+ Byrnes, apparently kid has a ton of potential, and they just extended Chris Snyder.
  15. But are you one to so "accurately" predict that he will, in fact, be the victim of a major injury in the next 5 years?
  16. Ugh. I'd rather pay 23 per to Youk.
  17. Excellent post. I also agree with Bosox21's assessment that the problem is not whether the current strategic model the Sox FO is applying is valid, because 2 WS's in this decade prove it is, it's their cries of poverty every time the Yanks outspend them on a FA, as it has been discussed here ad nauseum, Tex was not a need, he was a luxury, the Yanks landed him, so what?, the Sox are still an extremely competitive ball-club who are two or 3 moves away from securing one of the most balanced and productive rosters in the game, so instead of crying, they should re-affirm their belief that the current system works much better than the spending system and that they have guidelines that they need live by.
  18. If you offer him a 5 year $60 million deal, then you just gave him a FA contract, that's where "buying years" comes into play, so you don't have to pay an AAV to a player who has not reached FA, as if he already had, just look at Soriano and Howard, who received massive paydays during their arbitration years (Howard still in it), but in the case of Soriano, he made a lot of money before FA, and landed a top-20 all-time contract after he became a FA. Bottom line, if you have a very good player in your hands, avoiding arbitration and delaying FA is the way to go, not with a $60 million contract as you state, because that would just be silly.
  19. Name two other elite closers under the Red Sox' control who are more worthy of the investment.
  20. Yes i would, if the price is right, although Paps has 3 years of ML experience, so in order to buy out his first 2 arb years, you'd extend him for 5, not 6. Also, how is his "blowing his arm out" a deterrent to locking him up long term? If you don't wanna shell out FA contracts, then you lock up your young talent, but in turn, it's not like big-money FAs or players acquired through trade from small market teams can't blow out their arms either, effectively canceling your argument.
  21. Why is he an exception? If you have elite young talent and you lock them up for the long term, how can it not make sense? If Pedroia is an exception, then do you sugeest not locking up Lester, Youk and Paps? Because those 3 are also on the upper echelon of talent, and would make a load of money through arb. and their first FA contracts.
  22. Touche, i forgot about Sheets' Type-A Free Agent status.
